    That was O'Neill the selector.

    Ok?

I don’t know what he looks like but I heard a nordy fella interviewed and was wondering was it him.

That's Gerry McGill, he is a selector. From Donegal originally, but works in Carlow. He played for Eire Og and Carlow a few years ago too. Poacher never had anything to do with Eire Og or any Carlow clubs.

The GAA needs to winterise a couple of provincial grounds if they want decent club games in December. Is it just Croke Park and Thurles that have sem synthetic playing surfaces? From experiences at both grounds, the likes of Portlaoise and Castlebar need it badly. Portlaoise playing surface looked in very poor condition on the television. Especially around both 20 metre areas.

What’s semi synthetic? Croker has state of the art drainage and heating but don’t think Senple even has those, wasn’t it in an awful state earlier this year. In fairness the conditions in Portlaoise were absolutely appalling, the pitch held up quite well in the circumstances.

Most modern soccer pitches have a blend of real grass and plastic grass, hence they look so green all year round. Ball travels and bounces a lot more consistently too. I thought croke park and somewhere else in Ireland had this too but maybe not.

Info on the Croke Park pitch https://crokepark.ie/stadium/technology/pitch

There are a number of all weather 4G pitches throughout the country, Pairc Ui Chaoimh and UL two that come to mind, every county will have at least one in the next 10 years I would imagine.

Some first half in Newry so far, very entertaining

Russell rovers were 6 points up with ten minutes gone in the second and in stoppage time at the end of the game are now behind by two points. Four minutes of stoppage time left.

Did the nordies get lost at half time?

Ballyhale still in first gear here, in fairness to slaughtneil though they're decent enough.

Extra time in the Russell rovers game. Bud Hartnett was the levelling score.

Slaughtneil got away with one there.

Jaysus great effort from slaughtneil on the day. Nearly caught Ballyhale on the hop.

Fennelly really stood up today when it mattered.

Cruel way to finish. Mighty effort that. Not sure horgan did slaught any favours but just lacked that small bit of craft and cuteness. Did themselves proud today.

Good time to announce motm, fennelly gets a goal 10 seconds later!

Think 5 points slightly flatters ballyhale. They deserved to win, no doubt, but maybe about 3 points would have been more accurate a gap between the teams imo.

Slaughtneil gave away a few handy frees to ballyhale in the first half that didn't help their cause at all.

But by the same token Shamrocks got away with a couple of late/mistimed hits too.

Great game, seriously high level of commitment there
Excellent ref too, bit of common sense is worth a lot

Jaysus! Good thing for you Fennelly missed those two sitters so.

Good Hurlers but severely lacking pace. Second to every 50/50. It's the major weakness of the team

Just back from the match, He did miss 2 sitters, but my god if any slaughtneil players looked at himself or TJ Reid it was a free for Ballyhale.

Ballyhale the better team by 1 or 2 points is a fair reflection.

It would be a strange to in first gear in an all ireland semi final.

You mean you didn’t expect Slaughtneil to sow it into them.

Great catch, but he threw the ball for the pass.

Hopefully Borris can keep the scores coming. There isn't much in it.

On the replay, yeah it looked thrown.

Borris have worked hard on the fist pumping since the munster final!!

Wides killing St Thomas, gone 10 min without a score

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 485 ✭✭donnem33

I think Ballyhale would beat the pick of St Thomas's and Borris.

In the second game was disappointed with the performance of the county players on show with the exception of both Conor and Shane Cooney and to a lesser degree Brendan Maher.
