Yes just a rebranding after the closure order.

According to their facebook its a new offering, nothing to do with La Quila

I have been there about 4 times now and I really liked it....read this yesterday and nearly died. I even got a voucher for there for Christmas!! So now I don’t know what to do...also after reading a few of the comments on the echo FB page about it...wouldn’t exactly fill me with confidence.

Somewhere that has had a closure order has had to address issues. They are probably on their best behaviour. Kitchen is probably spotless and well managed - at least for a while.

Pick a random restaurant and you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. Perhaps they just haven't been caught.

If you like the food there, go and enjoy your voucher.

yes, Douglas and Ballincollig ones are the same business and it's not a re-brand of Lal Quila, it's a new venture under new management. I was talking to someone very close to the management and they assured me of this.

I was chatting to Bibi Baskin and she's a huge fan, gave me the inside track and sounds really good

It’s horrible when u have eaten somewhere that have been closed down.

In fairness you're spot on but I do think it's important to remember how bad things have to be to receive a closure order.
Getting one has nothing to do with business going good or bad, these people are just feckin us over for some fast cash.

Ate our tea in Quinlans last night. Absolutely delicious. We just had two mains, a mineral and a bottle of Killarney Lager. With the tip came to €55. I had crabs claws in garlic butter, a very good sized portion. Served with salad and sourdough bread. The second main was monkfish scampi. Served with chunky fries and salad. Also a good sized portion.
    10/10 for us.
    Nicely busy at 6 pm.

Bayleaf in midleton for dinner last night ..
(Upstairs on main Street ) ,I'd been meaning to try it for a bit ....mixed kinda menu a bit burgers and fish and chips, and a bit of middle eastern ..
Absolutely lovely ,had a salad starter ,meatballs and a kind of grilled chicken , real depth of flavours ,and textures ...and not expensive ...

We're going to have to come up with a star rating or an out of 10 rating for the thread ....

Good to see someone else enjoying Quinlans. A rating mark is an interesting idea.
Some rate fims, albums and concerts out of five but often end up with a half. One could use ten, but I find it still a little crowded with little differentiation in each sector, very poor, poor, ok, fairly good, good, very good, very very good. That would simply be 3-9.
From judging debating, public speaking I have found 25 as a good score max to use. Easy to pitch something reasonably good in the 16-19 range, below 14 is getting poor. One goes 20-22 for very very good.
For example, I would be putting Quinlans at 20.

We always enjoy Quinlans too, great half portion choice too if you have kids!

Had a great meal in Jacobs Friday, brie fritters and veg tempura starters were both great, and roast stuffed chicken breast and udon noodle mains were all great.

Food probably 9/10, service 10/10, can't help but not get too excited by the venue thou, it's soo bright in there for an evening meal and the furniture and décor is looking fairly dated.

Price was fine, 75 for 2 starters, 2 mains, and 3 beers

Ate in The Brook Inn in Glanmire last night, place was packed but the service and speed at which the food came out was superb. They also probably have the nicest chips I ever have had. Their early bird menu runs all night too so it's reasonably priced too. Would recommend but maybe not on a Saturday night just because it was so busy

Came to 75 for 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts, steak supplement and 2 cokes

Pizza from novocento McCurtain st last night. Had not been in a while with all the new pizza places springing up in the last year or so. Best pizza in the city for me, closest you get to real Italian pizza IMO.

If anyone is ever in Killarney Quinlans have opened a new restaurant called The Mad Monk. Went there last weekend for dinner and it was fab! It’s less casual than Quinlans but still not overly fancy. Restaurant with a bar. Food was fantastic and staff were brilliant. Often with seafood the portions are tiny but not the case here. Thought the prices were very reasonable too.

Brunch in Soma this morning. Limited menu - four or five dishes - but plenty of choice IMO. They change the special quite often too and usually post it on Instagram if you want to check it out before going.

Got the Morocco eggs and added halloumi. Perfect poached eggs with harissa hummus, avocado, tzatziki, roasted red pepper and sourdough toast.

Two of those with two coffees didn't even hit €30. Great value, great service and, of course, great coffee.

    Would definitely recommend.

Six of us had a three course meal yesterday in Bunnyconnellen. Really excellent all round. Those who had steaks were each exactly as they asked for, always a good test. Service was quiet and very efficient with just the right spacing of courses. Really tops.
Would give it 21 out of 25.

They've an outpost in The Venue (Ballintemple) and I agree that the pizza is gorgeous. Lovely thin base and great flavour.

That's a bit pricey to my mind. We've only eaten there once - it wasn't long open and there was an outpouring of love for it on local social media - and whilst it was grand I wouldn't be rushing back.

Had a really good meal in Bocelli's at the weekend.

I had the fried balls of risotto in mushroom sauce to start - these were divine! Really delicious and different, I haven't had similar anywhere else.
For main I had the Pasta Arrabbiata. The pasta was al dente, a rare find in Cork.
Its such a basic dish but it proves that when you use good quality ingredients and execute it well, it can be amazing. It was lovely, it tasted so fresh and I'd have happily eaten a second plate of it.
Dessert was banoffee pie which in all honesty was nothing to write home about but I find desserts in most Cork restaurants to be inconsistent and average anyway.

My only minor quibbles would be that my pinot grigio was served at room temperature, the bottle obviously wasn't chillled as it was actually nearly warm and undrinkable. This was quickly rectified when it was pointed out.
And the other thing would be the portion size - I'm usually a 2 course kind of girl, and would rarely get the 3. But I was still quite hungry after the main course which never happens me, usually I'm stuffed! Hence I got the dessert. So I would say the portion sizes are quite small.

Service was friendly and attentive. I think we paid about €75 for three courses each and two glasses of wine, which I think is good value. I'm already looking forward to going again.

Banoffee is almost an abomination in an Italian restaurant, desserts are normally something the Italians do so brilliantly. Why would they chuck an English dessert on a menu in an italian. No Tiramisu, affogato, cannolli, icecream or pannacotta?

I agree with you, desserts can be really slapdash around the city.

However, Cafe Paradiso breaks the mould. The lemon tart, when available, needs to be sainted it is such a state of bliss.

Their ginger pudding with sherry vinegar ice cream is one of the best desserts I've had. Not a huge dessert person, normally.
