I'm so sorry to hear that - thank you for contacting. I'm sure some of the other posters would like to ask some questions too. :)

I don't remember writing this, I'm very sorry. I don't know how that's happened, I was just looking at the thread... and well... I don't know.

    But thank you, I guess...

Twould have been fierce handy to be born with the knowledge of all those before me without having to bother learning any of it. The world would be so radically different if this would happen.

It has happened. It's called Google.

I well remember Gaybo saying on the radio “just think of it, you’ve built up an enormous database in your brain which is all erased, wiped out, when you die”.

There should at least be a way to convert it to csv

Who is worked up? You are assigning emotions to the post that I did not feel writing it. As for "time", you underestimate greatly just how fast I type. It took a hell of a lot less time than you expect I warrant.

'time', CAPITALS, warranties. ME excited, intelligent atheist?! NEVER!

You were in like Flynn with your jargon :D God bless ;)

Well if you can not address what I say, and instead fabricate non existent issues about how I say it, then I think I can consider my job done :) There is not much one can do with ad hominem short of pointing it out and moving on.

Yawn. No point. You wouldn't get it. It's the way your wired, not your fault. Science, science, science. We'll leave it there so.

Sure sure, it is not that you have no point to make, it is just that I would not understand it if you did :p That is a trick my 5 year old tries at times too.

As I said, nothing more one can do with ad hominem other than point it out as it occurs. If you manage to string an actual point together at any point though, come back to me. I am here for you. And I will address the point, not the point maker.

Oh you'll be here alright. That's the difference between you and me ;) You could learn from your 5 year old.

Funny one that was told to me by an older fellow was that when the last person who knew/ remembers you dies then you are truly forgotten and it was like you never existed. That bothered me for a long time more than the actual dying bit

i duno, the idea of non-existence is just so freaky

We can all learn from children, that is one of the wonderful things about them. The person who thinks children have nothing to teach them is truly a fool.

But in this case it is a transparent behaviour he resorts to when he has been caught out on a lie or something else he can not back up. So the only thing I think is worth learning from that, is how transparent it is :)
What about reincarnation, I wonder is it real?

If it is, it is quite good at hiding evidence for it's existence. And for any mechanism by which it would function.

Alas the evidence for it has been nothing short of comical. I once asked a proponent of reincarnation on this forum for his BEST evidence of it. What did he give me? A child he claimed was fluent in a language she could not possibly be fluent in as it was long dead.

Turns out after five MINUTES of research.... the child was not at all fluent but had the ability relative to a toddler.... and her father happened to be a scholar studying the people who used to speak that language. Including study of.... wait for it.... the language itself.

Make of that what you will :)

I reckon in about 1000 years time humans will be able to live forever. Something along the lines of transferring all your memories etc from your brain to something else.

    I have not been smoking.

Death is nothing but the beginning of life.where you will spend that life is however another matter.

By definition - death is not the beginning of life is it ?

    Birth is.

"They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time."

I named my youngest child Richard, mum wasnt too impressed, but accepted it, My 2 good friends both Richie and Richard had past away in the year "my Richard" was born.

No. You die. That's it. Nothing there after.

The idea of this used to absolutely terrify me, I mean full blown panic at the thought of death.

But the thought that you die and that's it forevermore just nothingness is really scary to me. I know I likely won't have any awareness of it when it comes but it still freaks me out.

I'd believe in reincarnation before I'd believe in God. Reincarnation is a nice idea but that's all.

I still feel very uneasy about death but I am better at diverting my thoughts nowadays. I didn't exist before my life and I won't exist again after I'm dead.

Given the choice, I don't think I'd want an eternal life. I'd be too tired!

It works because we stand on the shoulders of the giants that came before.
Futile if you think of it in an individual sense.
Think of humankind as a collective, like the Borg.

Do not be afraid, fringed one. You have existed forever, waiting for your turn - and you will too exist forever, when you are gone. Every thing, is one.

Mortality and nothing and existing forever are both equally terrifying and that’s what makes it so unsettling.

Philosophically, I understand that the concept of death makes life more important. However, the thought that one day I will be separated from my wife and daughter does occasionally haunt me.
