More fcuking nonsense to pander to an extreme minority.

Well done Marvel you bunch of fcuking clowns! You have lost me as a loyal fan when this latest Shiite is released, I certainly wont be watching!

Can't say it will change much for me, will be good for young trans people to be represented. My issue will be with casting. Are we gonna get sub par casting because they insist the actor be primarily trans rather than primarily a good actor? Not to say there aren't good trans actors but I'd hate to see person poorly cast because the better option was cis.

This transgender nonsense needs to stop

There are 62 Marvel Characters, trans people make up 0.6% of the population. They’d almost need to treble the number of characters for it to be an accurate representation going by those numbers.

You do have to wonder where and when the line is going to be drawn about what humanity deems as factual and acceptable and what is actually progressive.

For example, despite it being an evolutionary and physiological fact that people are either born male or female we are asked to believe that this is actually not the case.

Further we are then told you can't critique this stuff because they are "born that way".

I couldn't care less what grown adults do but the above is before we get to the trans and children recently in the news and videos of "transitioning" little kids - that is really, really disturbing. Nothing "progressive" about that, far from it.

I'm not saying Marvel will go there though.

Maybe the superhero will go around changing the gender of villains?

"Take that mister Bin Laden... or should I say *peeeow* missus Bin Laden!"

Honestly, what's the harm of putting a trans person in a Marvel film. It'd probably be one of the more realistic things they've put into their films.

Maybe some kid will watch that film and think, yeah maybe I am normal and not try and top themselves.

Maybe other people will watch it and enjoy.

Maybe others will fart out the contents of their mind on to twitter.

The world will keep turning. People online will get angry over something else the following day.

Wonder what the movie will be like? Lets guess. A half hour origin story with a love interest intertwined with the story of a bad guy bad guy who's trying to get the infinity stone/energy cube/crystal which lets him control the universe. The bad guy will have it and it'll look like the hero will die and all hope is lost. But the hero will come back to life and save the day.

Great stuff, I'll enjoy not watching this crap.

I wouldn't mind if Marvel actually committed to bringing such a character to life, but I know it'll end up being wishy washy as fcuk which will only annoy people on both sides of the argument.

Knowing the films currently in production, I'm guessing this will be a god like character in The Eternals with the ability to shapeshift. They'll never actually be referred to as transgender.

Where did you get the 0.6% from? That's nearly 30,000 people in Ireland, I doubt it anywhere remotely near that, maybe you meant 0.06%? or 0.006% even?

But I agree with your overall point, why are such a small minority being represented!!

I think people are just fed up with all the far left nonsense being rammed down their throats from all angles on a daily basis.

Going to the cinema should be an entertaining release from all the political rubbish rather than a continuation of it.

But nope, we have 'woke' Star Wars, 'woke' Marvel and James Bond will soon be played by a 'beautiful' back woman (which makes perfect sense in a world gone silly).

Next up, Jason Statham plays Cinderella.

This will look very dated very quickly once the whole transgender fad passes.

what far left nonsense? Maybe my understanding of Far Left is different than the current Americanisation of it, but I'm presuming you mean liberal.

Whether people like it or not, LGBTQ people and people of colour exist in society. Should they not be included or at least afforded representation?

I feel sorry for any trans people reading that reply.

How about a break from Marvel movies. I used to look forward to trailers at the cinema but now they're nearly all Marvel/superhero trailers.

But they are represented, we've never lived in a more free, equal and opportunistic time in the west, you want diverse characters, go write them.

I don't like to see people's characters being robbed and repackaged, especially for political reasons (eg black woman plays James Bond).

Ps, I have to say I can't stand the term 'people of colour', surely we're all people of a certain colour, the term has no practical meaning!!

What Hollywood and Media companies have completely ignored is that we put up with them as long as well are entertained (by Hollywood) and informed (by media)....we are now getting very divisive political/ideological content that is unchallenged and everywhere.

You need only look at what is happening around the media industry, it has lost its critical mass on influence...there are examples everywhere!!!

Hollywood, which no longer makes comedies, or rom coms, are now only left with the likes of Superhero movies and the like....it is a multi billion dollar industry, but it only takes between 5/10 years or so to completely destroy it!!!

They are already out of ideas...at what point can they return to doing what made them relevant in the first place

Transgender isn't a fad. What is a fad is the nonsense in between trans and cis ie non-binary, 200 gender identities, ze/zer/they pronouns, men who have no intention of transitioning but identify as female so they can enter female spaces/sports etc. And the rush to put pre-pubescent children on puberty blockers needs to stop. If an adult wants to transition, fine but there's too high a risk that children are just confused, suffering a mental illness or have been groomed by their parents to believe their trans.

Why do they have to be represented in Marvel Movies? They're represented more than everyone else in every other fcuking aspect of daily life despite their tiny numbers and people are absolutely sick to death of it. Its pushed, sorry rammed down our throats at every opportunity. Straight people are the least represented people in society because everyone is so afraid of being branded discriminatory or racist or gender biased if they attempted to make anything representative of the biggest (by far) section of society.

As an aside, Lashanna Lynch isn't playing Bond as far as I'm aware but potentially his replacement as 007 since he quit at the end of the last film. But if she was to play Bond... honestly, who gives a ****? He's been played by 6 white blokes already.

What a cringy post. How much of a sensitive little tw*t do you have to be to think this is ‘far left’. Do you see any Ho Chi Minh death squads executing white men in the rice fields? You see anyone getting tossed in the gulags?

Christ these supposed rational men (read: Grumbling weak old farts) are more sensitive than the supposed liberal snowflakes.

You know im positively neutral about the subject (as in i dont care). But reading these cringy complaints really DOES make me wish there were left wing death squads wiping out every idiot that writes these comments on boards.ie.

Haha ok ease up chief we're on the topic of movies here, that's some crazy nazi sort of shít there calling for death squads.

And people try to defend the modern far left, god lord!!

    Are they really though?

Where are they over represented in daily life?

Genuinely, I don't understand this post. Marvel films are superhero stories; I think having a trans person as a character would the least fantastical element in it.

It won't be a main character it seems. A side character to one of the main avengers

Don't see the need for outrage, they have been represented in tv and films for years already. Business as usual

Yes James Bond has been played by 6 white blokes (been a few more technically speaking) because James Bond is a white Bloke.

Sarah Connor for example has been played by 6 white women because Sarah Connor is a white woman.

Politicizing these characters completely dilutes them for me and I lose interest, leave them alone and create your own, that's my opinion.

I see this as pure Marketing and box-ticking exercise.
There's nothing wrong with a character or a trans-person being casted for a big role.

I just wonder if it will do the trans-community justice. Something they have in common is a long deep struggle to figure out what's going on and why they feel the way they feel. What's unique is that neither women nor men can relate to this because it's very niche. The day to day stigma trans people have to deal with in many parts of the world up to the fear of being killed.
It was to me this is a pretty damn defining process that in a way will influence just about anything you'll be doing in the future.

I'd just be interested how the community feels about it and hope that this won't be an unrealistic representation along the lines of "oh btw I'm trans and super rich and pretty because I was fortunate to have a lot of money and resources to fly through the process of transitioning".

Then again, I don't care about Marvel or American equality races of who's the most equal.
