    Trapt - Headstrong

Used to have a DVD where this was the menu music and it was constantly playing on repeat in the menu, and would reload each time you went into a menu item, that song intro haunts my dreams

(Bad Blood 2003, also a terrible PPV which may explain the dream haunting)

And was on the old legend of wrestling games!!! Think the original one. I actually enjoyed those old games.

The last true, wall to wall amazing wrestling games were the N64 classics like NWO Revenge, WCW NWO World Tour, No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000. All developed by Aki.

That's not to say there wasn't great games since then. I personally love the Legends of Wrestling games. But those N64 games were in a class of their own.

Does being in WWE still help a song have the same success as it used to?
I can still remember songs like My Sacrifice to this day, thanks to the WWE videos.
Entrance themes as well like Edge and even Maven.
Now I would struggle to identify the Raw or Smackdown themes or the PPV songs

Before Edge cashed in the MITB vs Taker in 2007, was it known that the holder could cash in on either of the world titles?

I was 12 at the time it happened and was shocked since I didnt think it could happen

Any classic matches on the cards for viewing on Christmas day?

Just watching back some of my favourite matches of the year this evening. So far I've watched the Ibushi v Naito match from Dominion featuring the sick apron bump. And just after wathcing back the Shingo v Ospreay BOSJ final which is just sensational.

Never thought I'd hear Miz and Alexa getting shoutouts in Letterkenny...

I love it but I feel like it's a marmite show. Someone may watch an episode and think "What the fúck is this?"

It has an odd amount of Irish-isms too and hearing them in a Canadian accent just make them funnier.

I was gonna do a decade thing but my long term memory is shíte, I can barely remember wrestling-related stuff from 6 months ago nevermind 6 years ago.

Anyway, 2019 end of year awards because why not...

Male wrestler of the year: Adam Cole

Female wrestler of the year: Becky (Io is the actual best wrestler but Becky is the best overall package)

Overall wrestler of the year: Adam Cole

Worst, or most disliked, male wrestler of the year: The Revival

Worst, or most disliked, female wrestler of the year: Bayley

Best match of the year: Cole/Gargano, Takeover New York. Honourable mention to Becky/Sasha at HIAC.

Worst match of the year: Rollins/Fiend, HIAC. Honourable mention to Charlotte/Lacey from a random Raw.

Moment of the year: Becky 2 Belts

    Biggest surprise: NXT/AEW brand warfare

Biggest disappointment: Being over The Fiend in a month

Promo of the year: The Inner Circle's parody of Cody

    Best wrestling show: NXT

Most underrated: Based purely on the last month of viewing, Akira Tozawa

If anyone thinks of more categories feel free to add them. Here's a template...

    Male wrestler of the year:
    Female wrestler of the year:
    Overall wrestler of the year:
Worst, or most disliked, male wrestler of the year:

Male wrestler of the year: Kofi Kingston (even his tag team run recently has been great)

Female wrestler of the year: Becky

Overall wrestler of the year: Kofi

Worst, or most disliked, male wrestler of the year: nakamura (his matches this year have been awful)

Worst, or most disliked, female wrestler of the year: lacey Evans

Best match of the year: Cole/Gargano, Takeover New York, or Cody Jericho

Worst match of the year: brock kofi

Moment of the year: Royal Rumble becky entering

    Biggest surprise: the fiend

Biggest disappointment: who ran over roman storyline or a leister black

Promo of the year: shayna becky

    Best wrestling show: NXT

    Most underrated: buddy Murphy

I like how they refer to wrestling as "sports entertainment", as Vince and Kevin Dunn wish people called it. That's how you know the folks behind the programme know their wrasslin'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,645 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Ospreay is wrestler of the year and it's not even close. Honourable mentions for Shingo, Ibushi, Adam Cole and Rey Fenix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 242 ✭✭Ali Bomaye

Male wrestler of the year: Will Ospreay. Was put in the spots to have a big year and took full advantage of every chance he got. He continues to improve and add things to himself as a wrestler.

Female wrestler of the year: Io Shirai

Overall wrestler of the year: Will Ospreay

Worst, or most disliked, male wrestler of the year: Bray Wyatt. One episode of the FireFly Funhouse was enough.

Best match of the year: Starr v Devlin at the Anniversary show. Brilliant hype video, brilliant match and brilliant atmosphere.

Worst match of the year: The Fiend v Rollins

Moment of the year: Shibata getting physical / Starr winning the OTT title

    Biggest surprise: Shibata getting physical.

Biggest disappointment: The last few mins of Devlin / Walter. I'm probably on my own with that one but lord did I hate it. Could also go with AEW becoming a bit of a mess the last few weeks.

Promo of the year: The promos from Starr and Devlin in their hype video. But also honorary mention to ZSJ's post match promos, especially after his defeat at Royal Quest.

    Best wrestling show: Wrestlekingdom.

Any chance Conrad could do a podcast with The Sandman. I really enjoyed this shoot interview.

Dean Malenko's old WCW theme always reminds me of generic music from SNES games. In particular it makes me think of Shadowrun.

Interesting to see how wwe HQ is located in a residential area

With them moving I wonder what will go in there

The 2 night card for New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 14, is absolutely stacked. 2 magnificent shows to kick off the new decade.

The latest '365 Seth Rollins' is meh and pretty `look at me opening a fancy coffee shop'. How me and rebecca first kissed on rumble weekend etc (possibly more than that ha)

He is a dedicated guy who is in tremendous condition. With all the modern day workouts I wonder are today's wrestlers in better shape than say the guys in 80s/90s ??. Steroid use probably been not as widespread now as it was back in the day. No straight edge in those days

The King, HHH and Mick Foley were Straight Edge before Straight Edge was ever a thing.

The King, HHH and Mick Foley were Straight Edge before Straight Edge was ever a thing.

Once it was a thing... Urgh.

I would go to a pub where a guy I knew, a big wrestling fan, would say how he was straight edge.
Constantly going on and on about how he "used to be straight edge" - Even tho week-in and week-out he would not only drink but get totally legless. He smoked too.

Buzzing for Wrestle Kingdom, the potential for those 2 shows is crazy.

I think I walked past Rollins/Becky Lynch by the Conrad hotel a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure, but I know they were in the country and by the time it happened they were gone (not that I was going to accost them anyway).

Not that I was going to accost them anyway.

    Others wouldn't be that sound.

I remember I randomly saw Becky at an airport in North Carolina once and was thinking of going up and saying hi but then realised that as much as it was totally random, there's no way it wouldn't look like I was one of those weird Internet fans that hangs around airports and tracks flights to meet wrestlers.
