There was an attempt years ago in the 80s to bring out a Guinness Light , various brewery staff were brought out on different nights to sample , free of charge the new Guinness Light.
Anyway , one of fathers colleagues drank way to much and experienced a dose of the Shiites, barely making it to the jax , he sat down way to fast breaking the bowl and getting himself an injury that needed 19 stitches.
He was known forevermore as China Arse.

Remember they brought out Breo? That was some pisswater

It was just like any other Weissbier to me.
RE Guinness light, my dad told me about that but you still see guinness mid strength knocking around, it tastes pretty much the same to me and had got me through weddings in the past where ive started drinking quite early and dont want to be absolutely rubber too early. 2.8% i think it is.

2.8% shouldn't even be classes as an alcoholic beverage. I've been to a good few weddings where I was quite happy to be bananas by meal time.

I don't think Guinness light lasted a year.
I've a cousin who was a rep for Guinnesses too and he told a story of trying market Guinness light to small pubs in the arse-end of Cork and Kerry with publicans asking him , how were they to convince regular Guinness drinkers to drink Guinness light ?

    Clean glass
Can of Guinness in freezer for 50mins to 1hr
Put glass in freezer for 30mins
    Straight pour

    Divine

7 cans in and I forgot to wash the glass. Now I have frog spawn on the top. Tastes ok though

Was in a Tesco Express in east London at the weekend , and saw this stuff.
I must admit I was tempted, but common sense prevailed.

Once it’s still liquid there’s no such thing as too cold with beer.

No man I think it's perfect. That's just me tho I like really cold Guinness

I won't drink it from a can unless it's been in freezer for 40 mins or so

But it's not beer, it's porter

Same applies, whatever you call it.

Nah, I think Guinness needs to be slightly warmer. Few years back they brought out Guinness extra cold, didn't last long

Was such a shame to see the extra cold going. Well, in the few pubs that actually did it and it wasn’t just tap decoration.

No, give it a try, it's very nice. I spent a lot of time in Nigeria and West Africa, the Guinness is excellent there, a lot like the very old XX Stout that you can get here sometimes.

I always shake the bejaysus out of the cans for 10 seconds or so, then put them in the freezer for between 1-1.5 hours, I use a pint glass left in the freezer for similar time, nice stuff is the result.

Do you have to eat it with a spoon?

Tell that to the bitter slurping dart chuckers.

No I have freezer at average setting, it's fine up to circa 2 hours before it solidifies :D

You've put a lot of thought in to your cans. I like it

Sometimes it opens and there is a slight hiss from the widget, other times they open and bubble all over the place leaving a messy head.

Possibly answered, I've not read the thread.
It's really important that you are very careful when moving the can from where it's stored to where you are opening it. Any excess motion will mean it overflows when you open it.

So leave it sit for 5 mins? I'm trying this with number 9

For best results turn can upside down as quickly as possible, a minimum of 4ft above a wet glass.

Now you're putting the pressure on, I find it hard to piss in the jacks while standing upright. 4 ft? Really? Challenge accepted

Needs to be a normal old shaped pint glass not one of those new shaped ones, glass needs to be very clean, can needs to be in the freezer for about 1 hour. Open the can quick wait about 5 seconds but pour into the tilted glass slowly. Works for me.

This is my normal m.o, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

My experience, (plenty) is chill them upright. Warm cans or cans on their side in the fridge will foam.
If they're not chilled or upright as soon as you open it suck up the bit at the top and happy pouring :)

I noticed that the cans have recently gone to 4.2% alcohol while draught remains at 4.3%.
