Had Xmas party last night. I was drinking vodka until 5am. I am now in hotel lobby 12.10pm wondering if its safe for me to get behind the wheel of a car. I need to drive for an hour. Feel OK but guards.

It's an hour for every drink so depends on how much you drank.

    Not apt username.

OP, give it a few more hours. If you're questioning, then you're at risk. And as a result, others are at risk if you drive.

Don't put someone's family at risk of experiencing tragedy, especially this close before Xmas.

Is the guard wearing a hat?

Chances of being stopped are minimal.

Probably not. Depends on how much you drunk and what time you started at. As mentioned, the body can only get rid of 1 unit an hour.

Incorrect, an hour for every unit. A 35ml measure of vodka is 1.4 units for example. A pint of 4.0% beer is 2.2 units.

Get two Curry’s into you and drink a liter of 7up and liter of Diet Pepsi before you attempt the drive.

I drank a full bottle of white wine before 1am. I then switched to vodka 7up. I probably had between 5 and 7.

I wouldn't think its ok from an alcohol level or that you would be a safe driver.
You would be a danger to yourself and others.

book another night in the hotel

into to bar for a few pints and spend the rest of the day relaxing in the room

don't go near the car not worth the fallout

That's about 9 units up until 1am and then a handful more until 5am.

I wouldn't drive for another few hours yet. Get some food and rest.

Usually if you explain to the guards you had a few hours sleep and feel grand, they'll make an exception particularly for xmas parties. They're decent enough like that. It's not like you had vodka in your orange juice at breakfast time.

Depends on what type of car you drive op.

9 units for the wine and 10 for the seven vodkas. You'd need to have started drinking at about 4pm yesterday to be clear at noon today.

Get one of those disposable alco breath test things. You can get them in a lot of petrol stations now.

It’s not the guards you should be afraid of, it’s hitting some poor unfortunate driver or pedestrian.

Drink 2 litres of orange juice , a large packet of prunes , a large packet of dried apricots and a big bag of peanuts quickly. That'll get the vodka out.

You still wont need able to drive though cause you're over the limit and you wont be able to leave the toilet seat.

Does that legitimise driving while over the limit?

We've all drove the morning after a heavy night. No need for the moral high horse brigade.

You're on boards AH asking is it ok to drive?
Not only must you be still pissed but surely you're off your head on drugs as well!

Liverpool match about to kick off op. Sit down and watch it over a sandwhich and an orange.

If you are in walking distance of a pharmacy, go and buy a breathlyser. Then you can be sure. I think you can also buy disposable ones for a few quid.

    How hungover are you op?

So maybe 15 units over the past 12-15 hours, no chance that's all been processed away. I'm in a similar boat here, was drinking until 0330, and while I'm feeling grand I know I'm not, which is annoying as I have stuff to do. I'd have some lunch and a nice walk, leave the car where it is 'til tea time.

I'd say you have a step ladder to get up onto that horse.

Actually, seems most people here have some morals and ethics.
For those who don't care and do it anyways, they're the reason drunk driving incidents happen. Disgusting.
