The man in black, was he walking along and randomly stopped at that pillar and what happened to him in the time that Trevor was inside. He he stay there and when did he move off and what direction. I'm guessing he left after Trevor and went the same route if the Guards are pretty certain that he's the same guy in the other (speed up) footage.
All is known is he was there a half hour before T arrived

How were they though. Granted we're not trained detectives but we have the images they have. It could be the same person. Again, it might not be the same fella.

Was cctv check out from the surrounding areas checked also? Probably to late by the time they noticed him missing. I wouldnt be ruling out less sinister outcomes either.

Find another theory with as much supporting circumstantial evidence.

    1. is where his job was - the CCTV gate footage

Thanks for posting as I wasnt sure where BOIAM was located. But wasnt the section between 1 and 2 that the CCTV time stamps said it took Trevor something like 12 minutes to walk? The distance is only about 400 metres which most people would cover in about 5-6 minutes.

If, and yes its only an if, but if there was more footage of that strange fcker hanging around waiting for TD to come out and then going after him then it would be barely questionable that a planned attack took place.
if that is enhanced the original must ave been so bad as to waste time having it at all

He might have stopped when he called his friend during this time. I know it was a short voicemail https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/people/trevor-deely-the-search-ends-and-continues-1.3230396

That man was not in CCTV range when Deely emerged at 4.02am, when he left his umbrella down before buttoning up his coat, and walking away. At 4.06am, Deely made a phone call to his closest friend, Glen Cullen, who did not hear the phone ringing, as it was charging downstairs.
He left a voicemail, which Cullen deleted the following morning. “It said, ‘Hi Glen, I’ve missed you there. Just on my way home, all going good. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.’

Apparently, they could only be 100% it was TD on HR because of the enhanced footage (clear it was an ACC umbrella etc)

If the experts could only get, let's say 2 or 3, matching points. Something like height, shoulder width, forearm length or whatever. Then at the least it's suggestive.

Nobody knows for certain what happened. Everything is low resolution in the whole incident.

But if we can look at the blur and pick out consistencies in what little is available we can at least take an educated guess.

Experts are quoted in the times as saying bridge man is gate man. It fits with other vague details to vaguely look like a planned attack.

What clearer alternatives are there? All I can make out from this fog is a planned attack of some kind.
Forgive me that's the best I can do.

Can't actually find the original footage to see how bad it was.

that dear old detective cliché, cherchez la femme.

There was a girl or young woman - a skinny figure anyway - among the passersby caught on CCTV and she, too, has never been identified and never come forward.

I read somewhere that Trevor Deely chatted with a girl at the nightclub (as one naturally would, of course, and I'm not saying there was anything odd about that)

But I've always wondered if there was any connection between the CCTV-girl and the Man in Black. It was very damn late to be walking home alone!!

    Where's this?

The girl in the footage and partner were ruled out, they were 1 minute or so behind whoever was behind TD. When questioned they said they say noting suspicious.

Has anyone ever slowed down the Milanos footage?

I always thought that the car that passes TD appears to pull in just ahead of him, but it could of course just be the awful quality of the cctv

I looked at the CCTV last year, haven't reviewed it.
There was this slight figure, not far behind TD, walking along the footpath, quite lightly clad considering the weather.
Not the couple - they came forward and were ruled out.; this was a tall slim person walking alone.

Milanos is the bridge footage. The second clip.

My understanding (and it may be totally wrong) with he old VHS recordings was that you could record at speeds of 2x, 4x etc to save space on the tape.

But that this meant you were skipping frames (i.e. you can't slow it down if it was set to record X frames per second because that's all that was available).

The last thread descended into a mess.
People speculating that Trevor was buying drugs, paying for sex, involved in criminal activity based on his work, found out about criminal activity because of his work and we as taken out by higher up because he was going to be a whistleblower, taken out by the girl in Alaska's family because he visited when he was not invited.

All based on people's wild imaginations.

If I were a family member I'd be disturbed by some of the s**t spouted on it too.

Trevor vanished off the face of the earth after last being seen in the vicinity of a notorious red light area in the early hours of the morning. I don't think it's that wild or fanciful to make such a connection.

You can change the speed on YouTube to 0.5 (click on the gear cog) but you lose quality. It was probably recorded on a higher speed to conserve space.

why did he walk to the centre of the gate and look up down before going left. and he did not zip his jacket before coming out in the rain

But it is fanciful to suggest that he was the victim of some random murder because of some drug or prostitution related incident ?

How many normal run of the mill guys Trevor's age go missing or are murdered because of some drug or prostitution related incident in this notorious red light area as you describe it ?

    None is the answer.

But how many young men Trevor's age with alcohol taken end up in water on a night out ?
    Far too many

I was single and worked and socialised around that area at that time. Healthy, fit, young single men didn't avail or need to avail of the vice in the area, nor did he seek out the red light area, it was outside his work door.

If his disappearance had anything to do with the vice it was more likely he saw something untoward happening and stepped in.

    I don't follow your logic.

If he was in a hurry (cos he felt scared or whatever) then he would have done his zip in the relative safety of the office or behind the gate.

The fact he did it outside the gate could imply he wasn't overly concerned.

I also see nothing interesting in the fact he looked both ways on a dark street at 4am, if he was in any distress why would he take a few seconds to zip up and put the umbrella up outside the gate with his back to the street.

But bodies float. And the canal locks were all closed.

Maybe further along the route. After the locks.

There's no known footage of him from the US embassy. And that's a place that would probably have no shortage of cameras. Likewise the Israeli embassy.

And nearly every fit young healthy man in Ireland visits Amsterdam for the weed and the coffee.
