There's a new spot called Coriander in Ballincollig that has a very simple menu.

One of the Indian restaurants in Douglas has changed its name to coriander as well, noticed a couple of newish (kind of cheapish looking) signs yesterday..

    Slava ukraini 🇺🇦

yes, where Lal Quila was/is, I've given up trying to understand what's going on with that place. Years ago it used to be a nice restaurant, now it's a dump.

Obviously to do with a recent food safety closure order.

I have eaten there twice - food was lovely to be honest but both times especially the second I had a slight upset stomach the next day so decided not to go back.

That was about a week before I seen this article.

Just giving some context as to why the name was changed recently.

Had a lovely sandwich in Cafe Gusto. Really tasty and reasonably priced.

My brother eats there regularly and has only good things to say about it.

it has a really unique front to it, simple but it stands out. I cycle past there a lot, never stopped but the lure of some nice confectionery might force me into a pit stop :)

Anyone had lunch from Orso? Saw on Twitter that you can order for collection which would be great for me as I don't work in the city centre but can pop in and out on my break!

Same place. As said earlier, the name change is likely to do with the food safety order back in September. What I'd like to know is if there has been a change of ownership? I won't be going back there unless I hear positive reports they've cleaned up their hygiene act and improved on take away quality. It used to be decent but standards have been falling over the last couple of years.

Quick question foodies : Gallaghers - there has been many recommendations for it for food - what about noise level? Normal conversation or shouting?

Ended up in Soho for a steak the other day (no table in Elbow lane and my brother was dead set on steak), and was really pleasantly surprised with the food! Steak was well cooked to my asked med rare, and had really good flavour. Always put Soho in the thoroughly mediocre food bucket, but this was a really nice surprise. :)

New chef got in a while back - hopefully they make a go of it again, cause when it first opened the food was good but gradually fell downhill.

There tends to be music on every night, though generally acoustic/vocals etc. and nothing too loud. In fact some times it has the effect of quietening the crowd a bit. (Other than the Jazz/festival weekends) it's never been very noisy for me.

It turns out the Glass Curtain restaurant that opened on McCurtain St. isn't where I thought it was, it's a smallish, simple space in the Starwood building. (Haven't eaten there yet so can't comment on the food!). There seemed to be a second space being renovated in the Thompson bakery building by the corner - I assume that's the restaurant/micro-brewery that was previously rumoured?

McCurtain St. is really taking off.

I’m following them on Instagram and the decor looks really really nice.

New Brazilian spot opened up on Washington street called Sabor Nordestino. Seems to be simple Brazilian fare - the Brazilian equivalent of bacon cabbage and spuds. Brazilians in Cork are delighted with it anyway. Seems quite cheap. Meals are about 8ish euro. Had a google and there's another one in Dublin. Haven't gone yet but plan to in the next week. Anyone been there?

They did a lot of advertising at the start of the year about their new head chef but I believe he has left.

Got two pizzas from Burnt. Mine was lukewarm at best and the toppings were just thrown onto it. Most of the fell off when I took a slice. Definitely won't be going back.

You're a bit out of the loop there Cork Lass. Fleming's is closed a good long time. Michael Fleming passed away last year...

What a dick head statement, Micheal Fleming is alive and well.
    Get your facts correct.
Yes the restaurant is closed. Tell us, did you make that up or what?

Oak Fire Pizza across the road is excellent. I've eaten there twice recently, my only quibble is it's quite draughty but the pizza is really good. There have been Italians eating there both times as well, always a good sign!
