The bathroom suite is green though.

looks like something from the 70's though...really disappointing interior work in general for an 'architect'...:p

They often are outwardly conventional people.
It's a bit of a dangerous illusion of safety to rely on.

the phone of this estate agent company must not be quiet anymore. how do they weed out all the 'interested buyers' who just do contact to get into the house of GD to just say that: I've been in the house of GD.?

And what kind of person seriously wants to live there?

It's quite sad to look at - seeing the kids stuff still in the garden.
Imagine your father turning out to be such a sicko.

I, like most people, was glued to this case. It's just so horrific and shocking but also fascinating. A girl I worked with at the time was his neighbour and knew him. She was stunned and shook to the core. She said he was the definition of 'normal'. You would never have thought there was anything sinister about him.
I think that really is the scariest part.

I worked in a company that did a lot of work with him and I met him a few times over the years...a more unremarkable man I could not describe.

My boss at the time said on business trips away my boss and some of the others would have drinks and play cards in hotel bars, while Dwyer always retired to his room early and eschewed the drinks/games.

Wow... that's chilling to read.Imagine what he most likely was getting up to in his room while all the while appearing like the nice, reliable responsible employee. You must have been shook to the core when this case broke!!

We were all pretty shocked, thankfully I only ever met him in passing once or twice so didn't feel particularly traumatised!

The bossman wondered aloud if Dwyer was actually sneaking out to the red light district when he was 'in bed'.

I remember opening our xmas card list that Nov and his name was the very first one on it from the previous year. Needless to say it was deleted pretty f**cking fast!

I expected it to be swankier for an architect.

Had a flick through the pics; while it's a big house in a decent area, it's very very dated in the interiors. Everything from the banisters to the tiling in the kitchen; it doesn't look like anything's been updated since the 70s.

Certainly doesn't look like it was ever a cosy family home.

Apparently it was bought for €1,100,000 in 2007, no money to redecorate perhaps.

I can never understand this. Do you expect murderers and such to be sitting outside sharpening knives and reading how to murder people books? The best way to do something your not supposed to be doing us acting normal or what people perceive. These fellas survive on other people's perceptions of them . Can't judge a book by its cover

There's a big difference though between most murders and what Dwyer did and the context behind it all. Similar reason we still talk about Joe O' Reilly.

I wonder if the kitchen comes with knives included.

There are certain murderers who look like absolute pyscopaths and it wouldn't surprise you when you hear they are serial killers - John Wayne Gacy, Albert Fish and, in my opinion Ted Bundy. People say that Bundy was an attractive, funny charismatic man but I think he looks deranged, there is something evil lurking behind his eyes. Richard Ramirez also springs to mind. Google his image and tell me it doesn't give you chills. If somebody told you he was an infamous serial killer you'd never go...say whatttttt???? Really??? But he looks so normal!!
With somebody like Graham Dywer you absolutely would. Even now knowing what he did, when I see images of him, it makes me shudder but I still don't think he looks deranged.

Sadsts can have a look to their eyes. Sometimes it's an intense look, others are glassy and dead looking. The former are extremely compelling.

Oh my God apologies for autocorrect putting the wrong word in place of sadist. That's the worst 'correction I've had.

The house should be demolished instead of sold

Why? This makes no sense at all.

What madness is that? It isn't like the murder was committed there. Do houses owned by convicted murderers all have to be demolished in your eyes?

Did anyone ever buy Joe o'Reillys house in the Naul or what happened it

The house is ugly as fcuk. Your'd probably be looking at at least another 50 grand a top of the price

Apparently when we experience pleasure our pupils dilate and almost fill our eyes so they look black. Anyone who escaped Ted Bundy said that he had 'black' eyes despite his eyes being blue because he was obviously so excited about what he was about to do that his pupils dilated fully. Shudder

What's the betting there's a basement / dungeon under that house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,319 ✭✭✭realdanbreen

Will he be entitled to half the proceeds of the house ?

Read something recently can’t remember what but it was a general thing not related to this case but yes it’s half his (presumably) not sure if his wife can take it further though.

I thought there was a change in the law after the Joe O Reilly case that prevents this?

that would only apply if he killed his wife.

Thank you. It’s easy to see how people believed he was an authority figure but the good-looking, charismatic thing, I don’t get. My husband knew little to nothing about him when we watched a documentary about him this year and he was like “Fuck, that guy is irritating”. He was surprised when I said people talk about him being handsome and charismatic. The woman who escaped from him said she felt uneasy around him straight away and only reluctantly helped him. I agree that many killers do look absolutely haunted. But Dywer doesn’t.
