That is properly cool, and pleasingly original/unmodified. What are your plans for it?

2 inch lift from normal and conversion to Syncro (thats 4WD). There are no factory Syncro VR6, but all gearbox ratios are identical to the TDI 102 bhp. The only difference: the clutch bellhousing.

So imagine a 4WD lifted Syncro with 6-pot petrol engine and a wider rpm band between gears. All with an exclusive business spec inside and economical to drive due to LPG conversion. Cost me under 70 quid to fill the tank today.

Sorry. I love my mods. But I tend to try to stick with OEM or near OEM. (Seikel and Projekt Zwo)

Be interesting to see how many miles you get from the tank of gas. I tapped around with LPG in the 90's I really loved it. How much a litre is it now?

The local station is at 85c/l. I've seen cheaper in other places. Even if you assumed, you use more LPG opposed to petrol, it's still a lot less than petrol or diesel pricing.

High enough, it was half price or below the litre of petrol back in the 90's. I noticed there was noticeable difference in quality of LPG from garage to garage too. It's a shame it wasn't promoted further.

Running a W124 on LPG at the moment, it’s doing the equivalent of 45mpg. The cheapest I’ve got it is LPGAIN at .69L

Even with my stupidly cheap staff rates I was getting quotes for 1300 for an LS which would only translate to insane rates for non-staff members.

That's crazy. I paid €624 in 2017 for a 2004 LS430 (max no claims bonus, no penalty points).

Yep mine was only 900 this year on a LS460..

    laughably, my insurance dropped when I went from a 2003 325ci to a 2006 S500...

    It's why I didn't get the LS!

    Who was that with?

If you're out and about on the M7, the Gandon Inn (Junction 15) near Emo, is 69cpl

    2005 XJ 3.0 petrol NCT June 2020. €2,650

Ok, so it's not a souped up bread van. But what could possibly go wrong lol

    Lovely. :)

Buy for €2300? Tax for 3 months from Jan 1st for €420, early NCT in March/April and see how that fares out. Can get the wheels done for €320, if the NCT works out, maybe go a shade or two darker.

It qualifies as a barge alright but I've no idea who'd buy an Australian import Toyota especially as the tax on it is going to be eye watering.

Going through the effort of bringing something over from the Antipodes and you bring back a big-engined Camry.

A Commodore saloon or Ute I get...

There's a reason they aren't sold here! I've no idea why you'd ship that, its guarenteed to be worth far more in Australia and add to it the cost of shipping and VRT the seller is losing his hole on it.

I’m guessing it was probably bought by an Irish person living in Australia who then brought it back home with them and didn’t have to pay VRT.

But even still, why would you bother!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,086 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Tax is €1200 on it, so actually cheaper than if it was on the old system!

Even with that VRT fact, having lived out there, there are far more interesting things to bring back like 1970s 323s, Hiaces and Corollas.

Erhm .. what you just have described is stuff, that only costs 200 EUR to VRT anyhow .. as it's vintage.

Sometimes people have paid transfer of car and furniture built into their job contract.
