Really enjoyable show, exactly the reason I subscribe. Refreshing opinion against the usual "Jaysus, they ran their socks off" brigade which seems to permeate infuriatingly deep in the Irish fan (event going ) base. Only hope now is that Stephen Kenny gets a proper go of things and isn't Brian Kerr'd after a single campaign, like I suspect he will be.

Don't think I've ever heard Ken as wound up as today.

There's an audio bed to be made consisting of his exasperated sighs.

Is there any free links online available to listen to it?

The Patreon is dirt cheap for what you get man, give them the support even for a month.

Ah no, I’ve heard enough of Ken bleating about Jose.

The pod has been good this week. Ken is 100% right too.

    I assume they will be doing a 2-3 hour #Jose special ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,252 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

Obviously, some people feel differently about it, but I was well, well, tired of listening to Ken minutely dissect every one of Jose's public statements by the time he got the boot from United.

I don't find Mourinho particularly interesting or endlessly fascinating, one of the reasons I hoped we'd never hear from him again is that if he ever came back it would usher in a new era of constant Jose psychoanalysis on the pod. Ken is fanatically obsessed with Mourinho.

I got bored of Ken's non stop Jose talk, but atleast it gets him riled up. As we all know, ken is best whilst riled!

The nonsense line of questioning as to the different starting line up he would have picked last night spectacularly missed the point.. point was that the campaign should have started with a clean slate all the way back against Gibraltar. Then the starting lineup against Denmark could possibly have looked a lot different. As it was, McCarthy had boxed himself into a very conservative box with little room for anything else.

Richie comes across as hugely condescending with that shtick

God that was funny. Even better than yesterday's one.

"Ginger, with brown eyes...and brows. That's what gets me started".

That's my €5 back in laughs this week and it's only Wednesday.

Great couple of days on the pod! And well done for shelving whatever they planned for today and go full football again.

Ken had come out with some fantastic lines this week. A good few laughs to be had from listening to him.

The line about having to wear attack dog sleeves for your arm for Mick Mccarthy was hilarious.

I didn't feel this way at all tbh. Murph alluded to it, the selection is down to the short term nature of the McCarthy appointment. Richie was just playing devil's advocate.

Back to their best this week. Some of those lines from the Poch book were very odd though, hadnt heard of that book before.

I think it’s universally agreed that Jose brings out the best in Ken

The extracts from Poch's book about Levy were hilarious..

From almost lovers and Champion's league winners to sacked in a 6 months... Ridiculous

I could not stop laughing at that. His build up to it was so good too. Also, his comment about McClean and how his shot was so bad that he's surprised Schmeichel didn't roll the ball back out to him to have another attempt :pac:

First time signing up this week, a great week due to the Ireland game and Mourinho. Have no problem sticking with it for a while, 5 quid a month really isn't a lot.

Yeah fair point, I still get a sense of condescension from it though. "Ok now lets tease this out" as if he's already two steps ahead. There are ways to play devil's advocate without that tone. Only a minor thing and I generally really like Richie's input on things. Just this week, and the Jack Byrne convo after Bulgaria annoyed me.

edit : Ken's "4 punches and one judy" cracked me up

At least now we know what mark was working on, getting Jose back in the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭dulux99

Ahh. Ken dissecting a Jose Mourinho press conference. It's like putting on an old jumper.

    Yeah, Ken and Nemanja Matic...

I found it interesting how Richie turned the conversation back on Ken.

It started with Ken wondering why people were so happy with the performance and rightly pointing out that Denmark didn't need to win which partly helped us to bring the game to them.

However it ended with Ken playing defence and being grilled as to who he would have selected and in what position would they have played.

I don't like Richie but have to admit he re-framed the conversation very well.

Murph was wrong about Michael Irvin pulling a gun on a teammate, instead he stabbed him in the neck with a scissors, which is arguably worse.

Ian McDimwitt isn't hosting on premier sports today! Cue some wild conspiracy as to his whereabouts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 612 ✭✭✭JoseJones

I imagine there will be floods of letters in to premier sports and second captains about that... Probably best for them to come out and tell us all if he's working on a secret project before they are snowed under by the volume of correspondence.

The Jose stuff can be tiring but I was in tears when they were talking about Jose studying Darwin during his 11 months off when he was actually just scrolling through Instagram looking at pictures of feel good quotes.
