I'm disappointed nobody nominated Echo Beach or Sleeping Satellite.

I wasn't around at the start. Could someone tell me if Bjork It's All So Quiet or Toto Africa were in this contest?

Both Toto and Bjork had a whole rake of high charting singles, so neither would've been eligible for this.

Echo Beach would have been a great call.

Hanson actually had about half a dozen hits in the UK

That's a surprise. Good thing Hanson wasn't included or Declan Walsh would have thrown his laptop out the window.

Big fan of Björk (seeing her live for the fourth time in a couple of weeks  ), I just checked on Wiki and she had seven Top 20 hits in the UK, with another thirteen that reached the Top 40.

Björk does not fúck about. ;)

I'm really enjoying listening to the songs I don't know. Gerardo's Rico Suave has to be the find of the thread for me. Nothing beats foreign rap; he would have been a deserving winner.

Did they have one called "Where's the Love"? That's ringing a faint bell in my head. Can't think of any more.

Anyone else have Friday night plans to go searching for one hit wonders that nobody nominated here? :D Might have to make a separate thread though, don't wanna derail Kolido's great work here!

Funny somebody nominated The Bluetones. I was gonna nominate them myself for the song If, only to check wiki and discover how popular they were.

    R1 Match 60
Los Del Rio – Macarena. Plays the role of siege of Ennis at many the function to entice lazy arses off of the chairs.

    R1 Match 61
Climie Fisher - Love Changes Everything. Because it does. Simples.

    R1 Match 62
4 Non-Blondes - What's Up. Even when I was young, I used to laugh at the bands 2 fingers to convention with their name. Someone explained it to me and I thought it was funny, like ‘bless those girls for getting so annoyed’

    R1 Match 63
Chris Isaak - Wicked Game. Something both eerily spooky and enticing about this song and video and consequently feel like I can’t really vote against it.

    R1 Match 64
Gerry Raferty - Baker Street. Another that was beloved on Atlantic 252 iirc. Liked Heartbeats but think it was too recent to be in the ‘Greatest’ conversation just yet. I mean, 2006 was only a couple years ago. Wasn’t it?

Suzanne and Maria advance to round 3

    Dario G - Sunchyme 2 Vs 6 Suzanne Vega - Luka
Damien Rice - Cannonball 4 Vs 6 Maria McKey - Show Me Heaven

I'll take that, Sunchyme isn't THAT great tbh

Sunchyme is good, but Luka is better. As we go through the rounds there are going to be good songs knocked out by better ones. Tis the way.
