dude, go and read up about the trade sanctions being imposed by the US. They have targeted certain high level commodities to impose $7.5bn in tariffs on EU exporters. Single Malt Scottish whisky is a big commodity export to the US, far bigger than Irish whisky.

May did exactly the same thing to them...twice.

Now they seem to be losing their support in the ERG who see their own bright shiny thing to grab.

Yeah, and they'll likely slap this down, but the EU is negotiating with the UK and not the DUP. The DUP's opinion only really matters with the vote in the Commons if Johnson's decided to sideline them during negotiations.

A deal could still have been reached, no matter how much Foster's against it.

It will be a struggle, but there seem to be some cracks in the ERG's hitherto steadfast support for the DUP. To be honest, I never believed it was anything more than convenient for them: Boris should be able to placate them.
