Ask Leslie Ash what she thinks of them.
I just did, she said she thinks they are great.

I think the very very very odd time they can be attractive: were Angelina Jolie's in the mid 2000s fake?

Nowadays, the Kylie Jenner inspired insta huns with huge lips are not my cup of tea

    I definitely prefer them before.

I actually done a double take at some woman in the square the other day, she probably thinks i fancied her, but i actually thought she'd recently gotten a box in the mouth!
It was only when i looked again i copped it was fillers, she'd a big pair of football shaped diddies too. She looked like a badly drawn cartoon, and what's even worse is you could tell she was a looker before hand, she absolutely destroyed herself. Sad!

I would imagine the type of blokes they go out with i.e. Geordie Shore types are into that fake sh*te

Exactly more than likely some gormless jock who's idea of a day out is the Cresent shopping centre carrying shopping bags and trying out a pair of Tommy Hilfiger jeans or a fitted River Island vest...

Then make sure he passes every mirror in the shop, get an aul glimpse of himself.
They both drive home, and they keep on telling each other how good they look and nobody's in love like they are.

Living dull souless lives eating out with Jocks and gannets on a Saturday evening, living in a house way above their means, all they have in the fridge is the light.

Mid Atlantic accent's if they're not from Dublin....

    Or a fake D4 accent

I think 99% of them are overfilled. There's one or two bloggers who I think have them looking well like Aoibhe Devlin of The Secret Obsession or Suzanne Jackson from So Sue Me.

I've got feck all of a top lip and I'd be tempted but I think they look weird with no makeup and I hardly ever wear it. Plus I'd probably end up looking like a duck which I'd rather avoid.

I googled these two women, Suzanne Jackson's lips are a bit much. I saw that Maura from Celebrity Island on The Late Late Show a couple of weeks ago, same silly lips

Despite her lips, I think Maura is really hot. Body is unreal

They are designed for 2D pictures. You see the lips in person and you're thinking WTF did you do to yourself?

You really start to see through a person and their insecurity shen you see them getting these things done

Girlfirend has fillers in her lips she got them to make her top lip bigger that's it as she is self conscious about it.

I don't care that she got then done as long as she is happy and I paid for the last ones.

Everyone has different things that make them self's happy like me I pay 30 euros for a mans haircut every 6 weeks as it makes me happy.

Oh dear lord you're comparing that rubbish to a hair cut..... In most cases your hair will grow back but getting these fillers and surgery and so on there is no turning back the clock....

There is absolutely no need to be getting these procedures done unless say burnt or damages in some other way.....

    That's a ridiculous comparison.

I saw two women with what could only be described as disfigured lips the other day. Ridiculously inflated and attracted attention for all the wrong reasons.

They look like ridiculous idiots but you can thank all the Insta-huns for it. When did the default look become orange mess with giant eyebrows and gigantic lips. I prefer my people to look like people!

I don't think it's a ridiculous comparison. It's not about needing to get lip fillers it's about wanting them in the same way Nicetrustedcup doesn't need to get his haircut every 6 weeks but he chooses to because he wants to.
Personally I don't give a shít if someone has huge lips or not.

In the "Why are most families houses and lives in a mess???" most posters there are criticising the OP for judging other people yet this thread has some of the same posters judging people for changing their appearance. Why does anyone care? It's their face and body not yours.

These lip injections can make an attractive woman look like a cartoon character. There's loads of examples of it. One that really stands out is a random Irish "influencer" on Instagram who always has her arse out, her lips now look like they're going to explode. It is absolutely hideous!!! I went from fancying her to laughing at her.

She once posted some crap about being natural..yet her lips are so inflated that they're on the verge of exploding ffs.

I think if my gf got it done, I'd end up having to leave her because 1. It looks ridiculous and I'm not attracted to it and 2. I couldn't walk around town with her having people laugh at her and me for dating her.

So you think cutting hair is the same as disfigurement of one's actual body such as facial features.

As I said sometimes cosmetic surgery is needed or is a help to someone disfigured but the many women I've seen getting this done were actually in many cases beautiful before they messed themselves up for life.

Reminds me of a guy on MTV wanted big calves and he said no matter what he done in the gym they wouldn't get bigger so he got implants in and he looked absolutely ridiculous.....

No I don't think they are the same I think that I don't care either way. Some people have their tongues split, some people have horns implanted into their skull, some people have their entire bodies covered in tattoos, some people get ass implants, boob implants, vampire facials, botox, pec implants, cockrings, etc...

There are loads of things I wouldn't get done, I wouldn't pay €30 for a haircut every 6 weeks either but I don't care if other people do that or any of the stuff I listed. I'm not better or worse than them just because I didn't do it.

Ha funny I saw this thread this morning, some love island girl sat beside me on the tube (or so I'm told) less than an hour ago. She was probably a good looking girl but I just couldn't see beyond the ridiculous lips, dreadful.

One of the wife's friends has started doing the injections as a side gig (as being a band 7 nurse just doesn't pay the bills anymore) and iirc, she'll only do .5ml injections. She has women looking for 2ml and she refuses to do it, telling the women that it looks ridiculous and she can't have her name associated with such stupidity.

*measurements may be completely wrong, it's not really a story that grabbed my full attention but you get the gist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 448 ✭✭Nicetrustedcup

Like about the lips as I said my girlfriend gets them done every year as she is self conscious about her top lip. She gets the smallest amount you can get into it and you would not even notice she has them. It's something that makes her fell better about herself.

Like me and my haircuts it makes me fell better about myself that I go into a hair dressers get a cup of coffee and have a chat.

Some people like a quick shave and out they go while some like the fancy way.

Like if my hair line go's back more I will get a hair transplant as I am self conscious about my hair.

    That's a ridiculous comparison.

Shows how little you know about fillers.
They are made up of hyralaunic acid which is natually occurring in the body, and the body then breaks it down over the course of 9-12 months.

The results most certainly don't last forever, otherwise it wouldn't be such a lucrative industry! You need a top up every 12-18 months to maintain the effect, otherwise it just returns to its previous natural state.

Now if you were to get a large volume of filler, say 5/6ml over the course of a few treatments to the lips (bearing in mind the maximum amount administered in one sitting is 1ml, you would need 5 monthly sessions to build this volume. No reputable clinic would do this anyway but just for arguments sake), and then randomly decided to never get it again, when your body breaks down the filler a few years down the line you probably would be left with a lack of volume and possible sagging because of the large amount of filler administered in such a short space of time.
But if you continued to maintain your top ups, you wouldn't have any problems.

You can also get fillers dissolved if you don't want to wait the 9-12 months. They aren't permenant by any means.

Therapy is what you need if you look perfectly nice and think you need cosmetic work.

And therein lies the issue for me. If someone has success with their surgery and thinks "wow I look so much better" they will, going forward, see surgery as an option to be explored.

I find usually it's the type who don't have anything really wrong in terms of appearance but believe themselves to be "less" and as a result are at continuing war with themselves. Willing to take risks to get "that look", that really, they will never attain as they aren't happy people within themselves and no amount of dieting, work on your looks won't ever fix.

Thus prompting the risk of doing some permanent damage to your looks that you will never recover from.

If her lips are so big they look like they're going to explode, she's obviously gotten several mls injected over a sustained period of time. That effect isn't the result of one treatment.

Your gf getting her lips done once would hardly be noticeable.
My ex certainly didn't notice when I got mine done and we were living together at the time!
If she was the type to get several mls, to the point that they'd look like they were going to burst, I don't imagine she's the type of girl you'd be with in the first place, it doesn't sound like your type.

Its the same as any other cosmetic enhancement.
Makeup looks good when applied liberally, using good products to enhance what is already naturally there.
It doesn't look good when its caked on to the high heavens, applied with a heavy hand by a person with no skills.
Fillers are much the same. If they are done well you wouldn't notice them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,734 ✭✭✭PoisonIvyBelle

I have no issue with anyone getting something done that will make them feel better about themselves. If that means a few lip injections, then go for it.

But in that case, do it right. For example, the best lip fillers I've seen are the ones I never even noticed about untl the person told me they had them done. If you're going around looking like you got stung by a hive of fcuking bees then No.
