Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just started a new story again. I really think there are seeds for a sequel, a game set before the events of RDR 2. They keep talking about how they have been through a lot worse in the past during the Colter chapter. I imagine if they make an RDR3 it will be set during those events.

I could see a new protagonist being created, with a young Arthur carrying on as a secondary protagonist. The O'Driscoll Boys would probably be a major antagonist in-game which would explain the story of how Dutch lost Annebelle and when he killed Colm's brother. It looks to me like the O'Driscolls were a family at one time. Perhaps there would be a deeper background story on the gang. It could probably be set in the 1880's which would be an ideal time I think.

prequel you mean! Only way to go is another prequel to RDR 1. Which would be a sequel to RDR2.

Yeah, my mistake. When I was writing that I was considering the numbering of the game making it a sequel in the sense of it being the third installment (not counting red dead revolver) but you're right. It would be a prequel.

Complete revamp of RDR 1 would be cool especially on next gen. I think GTA 6 is Rockstar's next project, it's in early development so rumours say. Can imagine the map will be enormous.

You'd hope GTA6 is further along than early development. RDR2 has been out 2 years at this stage and GTA5 was released 7 years ago.

    Glazers Out!

Unless it's completly unrelated any new game would have to be another prequel.

John's story is pretty set before rd1 is meant to start.

Well given that at the end of RDR1 the age of the cowboy was practically over, they don't really have any other option other than going back in time

Started the story again (3rd time) a few nights ago. Loads I forgot. Same stunning parts, same frustrations. Too much riding on a horse.

Went back into my old save game and remembered how I just like running around St Denis with the cheats on blowing people up with the explosive arrows.

Haven't played online yet. Is it worth it?

The 1920’s and 30’s were an intersting time with the likes of Al Capone bonnie and Clyde and John Dillinger and the bootleg era etc. It still was pretty wild. The FBI was just founded around then be great to be pitted against them in an open world game. Wouldn’t take much to make a story out of that involving some of the RDR protagonists.
And cars would be on the scene too for all those that get bored with horses.
But personally as another poster said I’d rather go back deeper into the old west of the 1880’s etc.

Definitely restarting the story when i get the series x. Had a little replay of some chapter 1 missions and have barely any memory of them given its two years ago.

Jesus, is it 2 years old already. Mad.

yeah its mad. Gta 5 still feels like a newish game and is 7 years old, skyrim near a decade.

I plan on upgrading my TV and to a PS5 some time next year. The TV I have now is just a standard HD one that’s years old, really took away the experience of playing games like this considering I could barely make anything out in the night time sections. Had to rush thought my play through because of this too, also due to the noise the PS4 makes. So definitely will be giving this a second play through when I do.

Played on lovely and quiet Xbox One X, 1440p monitor and the last 2 chapters on 4k HDR OLED tv. I think it's a brilliant game. Does start off slow but just gets better and better. Definitely looks much much better in the higher resolutions.

Really didn't want a new console for a while but faster loading and potentially better frame rates is a huge win for these kind of games. I see Witcher 3 has instant fast travel plus quick resume means it's fast and simple to switch games on series x/s.

Aesthetically great and an amazing world. Gameplay wise it feels a bit dated. Has the gameplay advanced in any way since GTA 4?

I watched this video yesterday comparing the Rockstar protagonists to Arthur Morgan. Thought it was interesting so decided to post it. It's 30 minutes long but might be interesting to some people.

Playing through this again after completing RDR 1 remaster which i loved. It's incredible how sucked into the story you are with the brilliant characters, voice acting and the ridiculously detailed world. It is slooowww though. In RDR 1, i could get through about 3 missions in the time it takes to do 1 in this so it's harder to hop on and knock out a mission.

I tried to platinum this and it’s ridiculously hard! Gave up

I had a quick look and something like 70 gold medals is a mental task.

I find when you unlock the map at Arthurs tent and fast travel it speeds things up nicely. You can then fast travel from any camp you set up too. Also started a new playthrough last week and made it to St. Denis now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,901 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Working on getting a few quid to upgrade the camp at the moment, it's such a good feeling riding into Valentine to pick up a bounty and seeing what's going on. I just did the Lenny mission, forgot how funny that was, i was beaming and chuckling the whole time.

Ginna play the outlaw for a bit, robbing where i can to get my cash up before leaning into the high honour for the story.

Me complaining about the game being slow.

Also me stopping every 2 mins to take pics.

Dont know at this stage how many time I've tried to replay RDR 2 but never get very far into it before giving up.

Enjoyed the replay once you get out of the snow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,901 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Right, I'm still on chapter 2 but loving it, actually enjoying it way more than my first playthrough. I'm actually enjoying the slow pace. Completely sucked into the world through the characters, stories and the incredible detail of the world. It's a goddamn shame they never released a PS5 update for it.

I’m also on chapter 2 and replaying it for the first time. Trying to take my time and explore more of the world on this play through.

Finished the game last night and I am BROKEN.

Having invested 217.4 hours into the game as a High Honour Arthur and after Chapter 6 I was just broken. I struggled to play the Epilogue and didn't enjoy it much because my emotional connection to the game and Arthur had ended. While I'm sure those who played RDR1 appreciate the epilogue and how it sets up the events of RDR1, it just didn't do it for me and I ended up pushing hard through the epilogue just to get to the end credits.

I absolutely loved the story and Chapter 1 → 5 was sublime. My one criticism are the missions towards the end of the chapters were just a festival of gun fire. Apart from that I enjoyed every moment I spent in the wilderness doing whatever and exploring whatever. The wilderness is stunningly beautiful and it can be made even more beautiful by using the Blackwater Terrain Textures Overhaul mod.

The one character that stuck out to me is Charlotte Balfour. The writers of RDR2 knew what they were doing with that character and they knew it would trigger our protective neurons. The manipulation there was insanely strong and she was the first person I went to visit during the epilogue. This also reminds me of that stalker dude you can find near emerald ranch… hogtie + dynamite just to make sure.

    Thank you, White Arabian :'(
