Why is Kleyn in the squad?? Don’t care about the ‘foreigners’ trolls but if you’re not going to play him why bring him? Would Toner have made a difference with 15/20 minutes to go?

Kleyn was brought to give Henderson and Ryan a rest in the Samoa and Russia games, and to hold tackle bags.

Ignoring all the blown-in clueless shït stirrers....

I guess your talking about Irish Rugby fans who follow munster and leinster, or the experts on the media who talk up Irish Rugby.

Devin Toner will be laughing tonight. Joe Schmuck and his foreign XI disgraced themselves. If I he wasnt so arrogant he would resign.

Anyway Japan is closer to home for Schmuck and co. They should head back to their real countries

I'm sure if Devon Toner was playing you'd be cheering the team on!

Go watch the girls rolling around in the 'Prem'.

Scotland only have 4 days between their Russia game and their game against Japan. I don't care how poor the opposition, trying to do that in those conditions is a tall order. This pool has been constructed to give Japan maximum advantage and I expect them to take it.

We were lucky to get this pool. It's the easiest, on paper, in the competition. We can't be complaining about any advantage Japan might get.

People seem to forget that Ireland, Scotland and Japan all still have play Samoa who beat Russia as convincingly as Japan did. One of the three teams will slip up against them. This group is wide open now. We can still top it.

Also remember France lost to Tonga in group stages of 2011, then came out and destroyed England and should have beat NZ in the final.

South Africa almost beat NZ in semi finals 4 years ago having lost to Japan.

Its sport. Momentum swings are common.

Big Dev is playing for a weak Leinster XV this evening in Treviso - I'll be cheering him on, will you?

As the teams came out in the Scotland match one of the commentators mentioned that the team were so calm, that in previous world cups they were a lot more pumped up, with o'callaghan banging his head against the wall in the dressing room etc. During and after the defeat there was nothing from the players as if it didn't matter. Not sure why, if I was on the conspiracy forum I could probably mention a theory but I'd probably be banned on this forum.

I will be kind and just say it was a total lack of professionalism from management and team

I have very little interest in rugby however I'm disappointed to see them lose. They're over there representing the people of this island (whether you like it or not!) and more power to them. Some of the posts on here are just incredible. If you're not into rugby then don't come on here pretending that you are, just so you can feel aggrieved at the result (that you don't care about). Go back to bed and watch the League of Ireland lowlights on the RTE Player or whatever else you normally do on a Saturday morning.

Tbh the only crib I would have with the ref is when Ireland were camped on the 5 m line and Japan were way offside for 4/5 rucks. Hard to understand what Gardner was looking at

POM was a walking penalty machine...all game

Dragged off after Gardner warned Best he was going to give him a yellow.....

Not sure how anyone could say he was best player on pitch

Ah yes, that one penalty he gave away. Same amount as Healy, VdF, Stander, Henderson and Ryan.

We won't beat either New Zealand or South Africa if we manage to get out of the group. Lets be realistic. It will be the same knocked out in the quarter final for us as it always was.

Ireland aren't good enough. It was evident in the 6 nations and the England game. If we play NZ nobody will give us a hope and we still wont win and have a moral victory. Thats the reality.

So many anti Irish rugby on here, masquerading as fans. Delight in our loss..

Not as much pleasure in Ireland's loss as pleasure in Japan's great win.

Plus a bit of pleasure on Devin Toner's behalf, as Schmuck should NEVER have selected a journeyman SH mercenary in his place.

And a bit of pleasure that the Irish rugby hype machine has been holed below the waterline.

Hopefully the idiot Shane Ross won't be tweeting too much rugby-related sh1te this weekend.

Some of us just enjoying a little schadenfreud after what you did to Scotland. Missed the game myself as my daughter decided she'd had enough of the womb and they wouldn't put it on in the labour suite. Not sure why they have the telly in there if you can't watch it.

He gave away two in first half
He was jointly responsible for a third in 2nd half when Gardner spoke to Best specifically about POM.

You cant say ‘but he was a penalty machine’ and then when presented with actual fact just repeat the point.

He gave away the same amount of Pens as anyone else ffs.

If we dont get a BP vs Russia than its deff curtains

Max we can get is 16pts
Scotland can get max 15 pts (3x BP wins in there games)
Japan will deff top the Grp with 2 more BP wins (20pts)

Surprised with how poor our fitness was you could see we were out on our feet after 50 minutes. Really is no excuses for that.

I wish those stats tracked advantages as well.

Anyway, the ref singled him out and commented on his consistent fouling and he was then replaced so clearly he was worse than others. Don’t think any of the forwards can really come out of that with much credit though. Our breakdown work was fairly shoddy I thought.

Japan will have a lot of home pressure on them after today. I can see their performances dipping a little. Today was a free shot for them. They had nothing to lose.

I can see them struggling in both their next 2 games, not 2 guaranteed wins by any means. If Scotland can get 10 points against Samoa and russia, then their last game against Japan will effectively be a knockout. Their game mightn't be as impressive without the flamboyance that the pressure might prevent.

Japan still have to play Scotland
So they can't both win all their games

Samoa have quite a few injuries which won't help them, but agree with you

He was dragged off the pitch before he got a yellow

He was the back row with the most amount of rest and had to be taken off while the other two had to stay on

He added zero to the team again....apart from a penalty count.....huge loss Conan and hopefully he is alright, if not get Nordi over quick

Is there any way to set up the rugby forum during the 6 nations and RWC so that you have to have something like 20 previous posts before you can contribute or something?

This forum is a disaster this morning and my ignore list is now about the size of a phone book.

That said my favourite so far is the lad that used van der Flier in his "too many foreigners" rant, almost felt sorry for the poor guy.
