Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Playing grand piano for parts of the show, he will be joined on stage by a small group of consummate musicians and long-time friends, consisting of acclaimed producer and guitarist Leo Abrahams, violinist and arranger Emma Smith and cellist Laura Moody.

The POLARITY tour will bring together the two disparate elements of harsh and fragile in my music, in some of the most incredible concert halls in Europe. In the 18 years I've been releasing music, about half the stuff I've done has been beatless and meditative, but so far on this tour I've been focussing on the upbeat ravey side. For the Polarity shows I will have a grand piano on stage and be joined by my long-term collaborator / legendary guitarist Leo Abrahams, violinist and arranger Emma Smith and cellist Laura Moody. This will be the first time i've had the opportunity to explore both the techno side and the meditative side of my music on a full tour. T

You need to log into your BGE account and look under rewards .
They will probably add the event in the morning ,its not showing at the moment.

It is up. Just search Jon Hopkins and the pre-sale counter is currently ticking.

Is it a generic presale code or individual?

Pity you can't pick the row. It is giving the very first and second row. Should I wait or are these generally ok? Prefer somewhere more middling

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,070 ✭✭✭purple hands

Hah yeah I was dithering on those rows too, but went for circle instead due to impatience!

Probably his set. Wouldn't be too surprising if there was an intermission.

Would love to know the setlist from last night in Usher Hall. Not on setlist.fm yet. A few clips on IG and it really looks cool. Anyone else going to find it weird just sitting there for a Hopkins gig?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,167 ✭✭✭El Director

    FYI

Actually reached out to someone on IG that was at the gig last night and this was her reply,

“ The show was amazing, but really weird sitting down... it worked for the quiet sections but everyone was on their feet for most of it. There was a support (I didn’t really enjoy him but that’s just my opinion!!) so JH was on from about 9-10:30. Enjoy the show tomorrow!!”

Hard to know if he is on at 8 or the support. I am guessing the support is at that time.

I assume it’ll be the same as Gateshead so 9.

Given the way the email was worded I thought it was a solid 2 and a bit hours of music.

What time did he finish at? We had to leave around 10.45 unfortunately as had to get on the road

He started 15 mins late* and the technical issues are up another 10 mins at least so wondering if he played til 11?

    *Obviously subject to change

Did enjoy it nonetheless. Don't think the quieter music is done as well as others in the live setting, but can't fault the electronic stuff

I thought that was a brilliant gig. I loved the way you could sit down and then stand up to go mad for 5 mins then sit back down again. It helped me appreciate it much more.

The set list was perfect too. Disappointing to have technical difficulties just as breathe this air was about to get heavy but it was brilliant when he came back on and blasted Emerald Rush and the crowd reaction.

I thought it was going to be much more piano type music so was very happy to see him play the bangers.

Loved everything about that gig, the venue, the sound quality, the set list, the intensity etc.
I've seen Hopkins about 7 or 8 times and that was my second favourite after the Body and Soul headline a couple if years ago

    Singularity was insane

Me too, it was kind of why I went mainly as I'm a big fan of Nils Frahm, Max Richter, Olafur Arnalds and such so was looking forward to that.

However, the sound in Bord Gais is so bloody good that it was great to get the pure electronic stuff there too.

Any idea what time he finished at?

    Think it was about 10.50

Really enjoyed that, very unique, very special. One minute everyone is sitting down, you could hear a pin drop and he had us in the palm of his hand, the next everyone is up on their feet and going mad. The Polarity Tour...I get it now :)

I thought the crowd were good, very respectful and supportive when he needed it! It did finish at 10:50. Cant wait to go see him again.

The sound in that place is incredible. When he kicked it into high gear you could feel the beats reverberating through your whole body.

Though a fan for a while this was my first time seeing him & he blew me away. Great venue, the sound was amazing & the crowd respectfully chilled & fun. He had us in the palm of his hand. Truly memorable gig all round.

I don't know if it's him or his crew but I've seen him indoor and outdoor and he always manages to get good sound out of every venue.
