    No idea what drugs are.

Fifty thus year and never taken any drugs, never even smoked a joint.

Yeah and you keep banging on about it on this thread. Aren't you wonderful.
    Drugs are great, in moderation.

You are talking abut illegal drugs... Illegal and damaging, not jelly tots, and not necessary medication

all drugs have side effects. always unpredictable often dangerous

Why not just stop them? Be adult and responsible.

    But addicts and drug users?

Humans have been getting out of their brains for as long as we've been alive.

Teenagers are a different mind set to you, you have forgotten what it's like to be one.

Saying "Just don't do it" to a teenager doesn't work.
People are never going to stop taking drugs. It is part of who we are as humans. We've been doing for as long as we've existed. Children as young as toddlers enjoy the altered state of spinning around and getting dizzy. Laughable that you are saying you aren't putting your head in the sand. We need to deal with the situation we have in front of us. Prohibition doesn't work.

    Sensible talk.

Responsible use of extasy (once a year imo) is a wonderful thing if that's what you want to do. I've had to step away for a bit myself, but that's my story.

Both the cases I listed were one single tablet. By teenagers who had never taken any before. In bothe cases no one else was badly affected by the same batch. Russian roulette.

Sure and people die in car crashes every day - I presume you never travel in a car either.

    It's basically russian roulette.

Is the term "yokes" used anywhere outside Limerick within the context of discussing drugs?

    And in the uk

Yokes, yips, jiggers, pills, or garys.

All common around terms around Cavan. So I've been told.

I'm not advocate of illegal drug taking but one thing I find laughable, and hypocritical, is older people denouncing drugs they know nothing about while they themselves are hooked on prescription (and some OTC) drugs like Codeine, with the toll they take on the brain and body. The number of pensioners addicted to prescription opiates is astonishing.

I don't think they're familiar with the word 'yoke' in the UK. They call them pingers, eccies, beans.

This, is very true. Over using on a regular basis can lead to short term negative mental issues.

This needs to be conveyed to anyone considering using it. Especially younger users who have no experience of negative side effects.

I know lads who've developed long term issues as well like anxiety in particular, though it would be hard to blame it solely on mdma...

There is no doubt it can get into your head, I know from personal experience. Long term I am fine. But I had the wit to work out that I was feeling paranoid and had no confidence because I had been partying too hard. Not everyone does however.

Furthermore without a general knowledge of such symptoms it makes it scarier and more complex to tackle. People speculate you have " lost your marbles" , mental health is such a stigma. It does not help when this is compounded with negative opinions from non users.

Actually I was wondering the same thing. I've heard people calling them "yokes", "molly" and so on but I think that is indeed a bit régional. Anyone I socialise with calls them pills or tablets.

It might be like the "Ma", "Mammy", "Mum" debate.

Yer Ma takes yokes but your Mum is mad for pillz

Oh DEAR! wondered when this tack would emerge!

No head in sand here; the only way forward is SAY NO to drugs. If you tried it? All of you? No one is able to stop you it seems because you are so attached to illegal drugs? As long as you demand drugs they will be imported and sold and will damage and kill. I care deeply about young folk and families. Lacerates seeing the deaths and damage. from breaking the law.

Closing on this here. Please, stop drugtaking. Set an example to young folk .

Never gonna work. Ever. If you did any sort of research about the subject you might ascertain how childish your argument is. People will always take drugs. Its a fact that will never change. Sooooooo if you really really care so deeply about young folk and familes then you should be screaming from the rafters to have pill testing kits installed in every club, venue and festival in the country. You know, something that would actually save lives.

That'd make a terrible mess and I'm not sure how effective they'd be if they're just grinding off your genitals.
Could work if you make some kind of semi-solid drug dildo but you're going to need more powder than alcohol so it doesn't become a paste. Might overdose with that concentration of hard drugs being rammed into the anus or vagina...

You'll need to rethink this, I don't think it's going to work.

People's wants are very different from their needs, yes. If somebody wants to experience something of their own free will that they can't elsewise, so be it.
