Still, we can take a few yokes to escape the self righteousness of it, so I think we're winning :D. Love the username by the way, always partial to a big bag of cans :D

Some boardsies could do with a bit of the love buzz :pac: Thanks, didn't take much effort to think it up :D

Would you ever cop to fck on.

Drugs are a fools game, if you need to be told that at 50, then says more about you.

    Who says we're 50?

You need to relax, man. You're the only one on this thread getting enraged.

    I'm turning 50.

    And proud of it.

Dont ask for opinions of those turning 50 if you cant accept them.

I wouldn't bother OP. I'm not against taking drugs per se but unless your doing them with good mates it's a lonely place your entering. Doing pills at 50 with a load of young uns is stupid.

I didn't ask for opinions, you're just giving an endless stream of them. And I don't care what age you or any of the posters are. I'm not ageist.

What is coming through as usual, is that people have an opinion on those turning 50, rather than those ACTUALLY becoming that age.

They clearly said they were considering doing this with friends of a similar age. I think what's happening here is that the first Irish generation to really hit xtc, white doves and the like, are prob early 40s now. They're rode the the first drug wave into the future.
As with most things, we only have to look to the mainland to see the future. Drugs hit there much earlier and there wasn't as much a divide between 80's kids and their parents as there was over there.
I lived there for a while in the early 2000's and remember being shocked when my mate's Ma offered me an xtc pill, down the pub. Similarly, I've had lads from work offer me MDMA, they were approaching 70.

Saying someone of 50 or over shouldn't do certain drugs is ageist, plain and simple.
OP, maybe try it first in a safe place, like at home, few mates there, some decent tunes lined up. Take a half to begin with, ease yourself into it.

No idea what you are on about.

Drugs, one way or another, does not have any impact on my life.

    Why should it?

I'll not bother entering a debate about it so.
This is a conversation about chemistry, and perhaps biology, but geography certainly isn't part of it.

I tried quite a lot of recreational drugs in my younger years - mainly in my 20s - and enjoyed most of them - but ironically the one recreational drug that is not only legal but bound intricately into every fibre of our culture, alcohol, was the one drug that very nearly finished me off for good.

I see nothing sad with anyone who wants to take ecstasy at 50 or older, provided they are in good health and know what they are doing. All recreational drugs should be decriminalised and regulated IMO and I’ve held that view for a very long time.

I myself partake in the occasional bit of marijuana now and then - I can never touch alcohol ever again and I’ve learned to accept that. But at 44 I certainly wouldn’t rule out taking ecstasy again, it’s been about 15 years since I last did it.

PS: Some of the most mind blowing sex I ever had was whilst buzzing on ecstasy. :D

Im like you op, only younger. I made a strict decision never to bother with any drugs when I was a teen but sometimes think maybe I should have.

I reckon the thought is better than the outcome. Think of it as looking forward to Christmas.. the looking forward is the best part...

    Oh, sweet summer child.

Anyone that does drugs is only kidding themselves whether they are 18 or 50.

Go for it. I'm friends with a couple of 50+ lads and some of them do it now and then. You can't really tell someone who's been working three decades that they shouldn't pop whatever they like.

    Libertarian logic.
