Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    https://www.bigtoplive.ie/

Very good for the area hopefully. Personally not a fan of any of the acts announced so far but hopefully it does well

I think Bingo Loko will be huge - sold out I'm Kilkenny recently. Hopefully the fad hasn't dried up by then!

pity but can see why as were all bunch a stinge bags here lol and it takes a lot to gain support here. Ive been to a few tribute nights for rock bands and they be a good crowd at them but prob not justify a big act playing here. The Darkness playing Daytripper in 2015 was class but wasant overally busy if i recall

Stuff Like UB40/Madness and other mod scene type stuff does well here as does the usual smash hits/throw back stuff

Ian Brown of Stone Roses fame or Richard Ashcroft would be nice for the tuesday. Could be something aimed towards teenagers/young aldults and be a newish band

ub40 are free the tuesday ha

The throwback event that was to be on the Sunday has been cancelled for some reason and there is no act for the Tuesday night

Seen as they were emailing out 15% discount codes to everyone a couple of weeks ago and giving away loads of free tickets my guess is they didn’t get the numbers and had to pull the plug

Decent reviews about the events the past 2 nights

Bingo loco the next 2 and the big one Saturday with Happy Mondays. Sadly wont make any events this year but hope it goes well and becomes a yearly thing with more big acts headling

Anyone know what alcohol they are selling down there and how much they are pricing the drinks?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,132 ✭✭✭Gardner

the wife was on faceache last night and showed me live videos from bingo loco. i couldn't think of anything worse! few dancers on a stage, a fella on the decks, everyone playing along to organised fun at their benches and a few poppers of confetti every now and then. Kill disco on prozac

There's a Heineken tent selling pints of Heineken and Cider. Pints are €5.50. They have bottles of Heineken 00 (€4.50), Coors Light, plus the common shorts like vodka, Jim Beam, etc.. Blackwater gin also.

From pics/vids I've seen of Bingo Loco it's very like the darts

I wonder will we see a darts event at future Big Top events?

He enjoys going to supporting the blues and trolling the Waterford gaa page on boards telling us all how the most negative manager we ever had Derek McGrath is so great.

So here’s my take on Big Top (Happy Mondays night):

    Positives:
Great space to sit at tables
Toilets good, not as many as for Madness but okay
Tent was a great gig space
Overall vibe was very relaxed and enjoyable

    Negatives:
The bar - Heineken seriously? Terrible choice of beer
Food - Flash selling 3 different varieties of chips or a very excellent burger from Bodega. Overall poor food choices.

That’s it really, very unhappy with the bar setup but overall a great venture and hopefully bigger and better next year.

    3 different varieties of chips?

    3 different varieties of chips?

Yep, cheesy something, chorizo something and some other covering. I’m sure they were lovely but I thought perhaps something a little more from Revolution.

By the way, the Mondays would be lost without Rowetta. Just saying.

One of the best music nights out last nIght, Happy Mondays and kingkong company were brilliant. Great set up with tent, very little queuing at bar, some nice food to be had too.

Yeah you'd wonder what possessed them to choose the most popular lager in the country.

Funny one, thought the same, its not my first choice but its fine isnt it. They had local gin crowd selling cocktails too, Blackwater gin I think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 602 ✭✭✭savic04

The tent rental company left down the promoters a day before

So the orginal plan was a tent double the size that housed all the bars and there was to be more food options outside.

Was great to get it done year one and hopefully move on with it.

    Better dan naw-thin!;)

What with The Big Top, Daytripper & All Together Now - local music fans have plenty of options going forward. Yes they all cater for different types, ages & music but it's far better than a big fat "zero"!

On top of this throw in Spraoi, Waterford Walls, Harvest Festival, Summer in the City, Imagine Arts, Dunmore Bluegrass, Winterval but to name a few.

Loads of Beaches, Mountains and the Greenway.

And Waterford was recently named Ireland Foodie Destination of the year!

Saying that you still won't be able to please everyone....:D
