And Viagra Boys. Genuinely great gig in the Grand Social earlier this year, and driving guitar wall of sound.

How far away until you can start trusting the weather forecast? :/

only two or three days in my experience
    everything else is wild speculation,

In the absence of much else to speculate about who are the possible Jerry Fish loud Sunday headliners? Surely has to be one from SLF, Therapy?, Fontaines DC and The Murder Capital. Last two are available and may feel they owe JF a favour after a leg-up at the fest. What about a big end of weekend for the Fontaines? Can't be announced according to their ATN exclusivity deal (though they stepped in to FF) but won't count if it's not billed. For me it'd be a surprise if we don't get one of the two Dublin outfits. And all the more annoying to have to miss it.

Earlier in the summer, they were scheduled to play Knee Deep in Cornwall (Friday 30), Bristol Downs (Saturday 31) and End of the Road (Sept 1) but, checking their website, none of those shows are listed anymore. If you check the individual festival sites, they are still listed for Knee Deep and Bristol Downs but, tbh, they've been cancelling shows left, right and centre the last few months so this may well have changed and I could've missed it!

I'd say the Murder Capital is a more likely shout. I'd have fully expected them to be at EP anyway so it is a surpsise that they aren't currently on the bill.

EDIT: the Murder Capital are playing a festival in the Netherlands on the Friday and End of the Road on the Sunday. Saturday is currently open - but would they come back just for a Jerry Fish show? It might just be that the timing didn't suit and they're not on the bill afterall.

3 or 4 days at a push seems to be the only point where it become reliable.
    keep the faith,
and don't start looking until Tuesday/Wednesday of next week.

@bodhrandude - so I'm guessing this includes the house acts? Been wanting to ask about this. Thanks. :)

If you're looking for some big guitar, Syd, Touts and the Claque both worth a look.

thanks for the suggestions, but neither would pass "6" on my noise meter

Girl band a possibility? On in Vicar Street in November, might be looking to get back in the swing?

Ah, of course. I was over-pleased with myself for narrowing it down to four. Reckon we'll know by next Thur/Fri and looks like a goodie whoever it is.

No problem Syd. I would say that's Alan Duggan out of Girl Band on guitar for the Claque. When he gets warmed up, that's about as loud as I can take.

they'd definitely be a "wall of sound" type loud act... but i guess im looking for something more long the lines of death grips / prodigy / scarlxord that we had last year.... some kind of post punk hardcore faaaaaaaace melting sh1t

heres praying for a last minute fugazi reunion :P

Girl Band were making a big deal of vicar street being their only irish performance this year, so unlikely I would say.

And of course minutes after posting this I see there's "An Evening with Girl Band" about to be announced... in Token?? :pac:

Not a bad sound from this guy, a bit more poppy though to the ones you mentioned.

But there doesn't seem to be anything like Scarlxrd, Death Grips or Prodigy in the lineup i just went through there although do check out Kneecap for Northern humour rap, always a good mosh going on there too.

    hi

I assume the AIB tappy thing will be there,
Any experience of it, any negatives?

    thanks

I used the tappy tappy in Kaleidoscope.
Only downsides were some vendors didn't use it even though they were all supposed to. They demanded cash which you only found out after you queued/ordered and then you went to pay.

Other downside is the bar the first night only had one tappy machine for all the tills which was a joke compared to a vendor with one till only needing one. You were slower waiting for tappy machine then just handing over the cash. They might have sorted the bars with a few more tappy machines towards the end of the weekend.

    Worked well otherwise.

Because there's paint ball shooting of peasants in the off season when they cannot shoot pheasants.

Because they do paint ball there during the year and other outdoor activities in the stradbally estate. Obviously not during the weekend of EP though the idea of shooting some hunzos in the face does sound appealing.

Yep same here, during the day at least, I find in the last year or two it has gotten so busy at night time and the crowd is getting younger and I'm not. Mix & Fairbanks are always brilliant and I will definitely be there for a day time dance on Saturday, Get Down Edits likewise on the Friday afternoon. Some other good DJs including Magnier, Boots & Kats, Jimmy Rouge. Not really into the headline acts this year though, they have had some good ones in the past.

Totally agree Body and Soul is a far better slot

a lot less punters at B&S though surely?

    - 480 people were arrested for drugs possession
    - 45 for drug sale/supply

I wonder what the figures will be like this year, stay safe folks!

Just a quick question, is there a certain route/direction you need to come from to get a spot in the Green Car park.

Last time at EP (2017) we had no choice but to go to a different Car Park and haul all our stuff to Pink Moon. The previous visit (2015) had no such issue.

Decent Dublin female two-piece, very good when supporting Sleaford Mods here in Feb. A nice act to start people off on the Thur.

Envy setting in here for those who have a four day fest when I'm down to two. Missing Sunday and that could be the best day also given that Jerry Fish alone has an excellent evening.
