    Ah ok!

Well there’s another blast from the past. Although she was another one fond of the tall tales.

Eve Dublin is doing great in real life - would love if she came back. Like Whoops she was driven off though by people who seem very upset all the time.

Dudess used to be way too argumentative and wound up and taking things too seriously politically... but I have it on excellent authority that she has mellowed greatly. ;)

I remember Eve Dublin from when I used to lurk here. Did she never come back? I wondered what she was doing and if she stayed in Spain etc.

What was funniest, was for ages afterwards in random threads, posters would post "I'm eating my breakfast, Kate."
Seemed to go on for ages.
Good to have humour back in AH:D

It was a running joke for a long while there. Maybe it will make a comeback now :)

My favourite part was when the thread had well and truly spiralled out of control, and paralysed threw a huff and said "Right, I'm changing her name so!", and edited the OP to change "Kate" to "Helen", in a misguided attempt to put the genie back in the bottle.

It...didn't work. At all. And then Helen magically became Kate again (I reckon Kersplat edited it back, he was modding AH then).

Jesus, what the hell was yer man's problem??? It was an honest (and quite funny) mistake and pages later he's still clutching his pearls over it and accusing everyone who tried to explain it to him of being part of a clique.

    What an odd individual.

Also, his son was dead right, to be fair.

And he has posted in this thread :D

    Kersplat!
AH went utterly to sh!t after he stepped down.

Orubiru, even though I rarely agreed with him, was somebody else I respected - one of a vanishing breed who had the honesty to admit that somebody they disagreed with was making a fair point.

Anncoates was another poster whose cutting and succinct style I liked.

Aw poor Missymoo - that poster's reaction was horrible. Like they realised they were wrong to think she was deliberately upsetting them, so they pretended she was, instead of just backing down. It is funny too though. :)
Remember Our man in havana ? He was a long-term mod of an obscure forum (broadcasting I think) who seemed to have a nervous breakdown and went rogue.

That was just... he had been this mild mannered moderator - think in the Animals & Pets forum, and suddenly he was posting sectarian vitriol that would make Ian Paisley blush. How his grandfather would have shot any catholic that came near his land, and how the treatment of catholics pre and during Civil Rights was deserved. Way worse than KeithAFC.

I have a suspicion that one of the handful of hardline loyalists who post here just to antagonise... is Our Man In Havana.

    No.

I'm gobsmacked at the revelation of who storminateacup is. I wasn't on boards much in her original heyday.

And she is still going strong. Wow.

    Hhhmmmm.

Have you ever been fond of a poster, then they go ahead and re-reg and you just cant warm to them again?
Yeah, especially if they come back and have lost their sense of humour enroute.

    Some re-regs are so obvious.
On this occasion, however, I'm utterly clueless.
    Perhaps for the best.

Didnt she leave after she made accusations about some mod(still here) filming her legs at a boards beers?
There was a lot of questions but she didnt want to answer or take it further.
    And then gone.

    She did, yes!

I’ve seen Stovelid mentioned. Stovelid is still amongst us. I recognise the posting style.

I never thought the shade was subtle, tbf.

There was a guy on here a few years ago. He re-regged a number of times, but was prolific & instantly recognisable every time..

He had some kind of business that involved a fleet of vans. Seemed to be into construction or plumbing.

Used to be on the Thunderdome too.

Yeah, CommaGate was hilarious. When all hell would be breaking loose on that thread (as it often was) you could be damn sure Missymoohaa would be the one user you knew wouldn't be involved as she was always so easy going and tended to avoid all that stuff.

So for her of all people to be accused of sending a really dark PM about someone's family member was funny to begin with, as you knew they would never do such a thing, hence them (as it turned out) actually just trying to be nice in sending the PM tn the first place given they thought the user was feeling down.

What made it all the more funny was that, ironically, the BB earlier that year also had a misunderstanding surrounding someone mistakenly thinking that someone had just said a person was dead who wasn't.

Anyone that has never read it but that would like to, would need to read the thread from the point the post was made. You can find it quoted in this post from me on the night. Will take a while to read through it all but is well worth it :P

Dudess was always one of my favourites (which she knows!), as were Poundapunnet, Eve_dublin and a few more but I'm so bad at registering usernames that I can't think of their handles but I loved their posts.

I am devastated to learn that I'm not special and The Backwards Man loves all the ladies! To be fair he has always been very polite and respectful and nothing untowards at all. :)

A few others have stood out for the wrong reasons (Pumpkinsomething, Planespeeking in her various iterations, and a poster whose name escapes me but used to post mean spirited stuff in the TTTMYH thread - other peoples misfortune really made them happy). I don't know why TC gets any love, he may have been articulate but there were few posts of his that didn't drip with sneering condescension. He truly hated women.

I am also underwhelmed by the football thingy, it's funny but I guess it's probably hilarious if you were following at the time and knew all the backstory.

I am in an absolute HEAP reading the adventures of Trent, it's the best thing I've read in ages and comes straight from the AVB (before the handover) school of funny. :D

    Brilliant stuff!

I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who thought this. Both the disdain for women and the condescension. And, as I said earlier in the thread, he revealed himself to be ridiculously precious too. The time he criticised a mod who actually stood up for him was astounding. I was thinking “If that’s what you’re like with people who are trying to help you...”. I’ve noticed that articulacy seems to dazzle and impress many people and much is undeservedly forgiven if you have a way with words.

Nah. I thought someone would have mentioned him long before now.

He was Pottler, Stavros Murphy, Nucking Facker...etc..to my knowledge.

I found him to be quite entertaining & knowledgable.

Very true. I'd be ok at the writing/articulacy, and I can't be arsed with that - plain English will do fine.

He was appalling. If women robustly disagreed with him, he'd say "Well, enjoy being single so". Nasty.

How you guys can keep track of who is who after they've changed their names multiple times is beyond me. I can honestly only remember a few names of people who are no longer with us and no chance would I cop their multiple itinerations.

The time he strode into the thread of people confessing sexual abuse they had suffered with a ‘For instance’ in an attempt to start a debate - I thought “You tone-deaf *******”. It was the only time I ever saw him contrite - the backlash was harsh and swift.
