Also another thing that is destroying the Palestinian economy is the stand off between the Palestinian Authority Govt and the Hamas govt.

No one talks about how that is making Palestinians poorer.

All hamas does in response to the economy is go to war with Israel and wait for the international response of sympathy and rallying of nationalist support. Which they get which makes them do it more.

Unemployment in Gaza is at 52 %. Its NUTS!

And i mean i don't know about you but if i want a country to open up its borders to me i stop going to war with it.

...maybe they'd do that if the other side stopped colonising them.

You realize in some countries they found they were funding terrorism not only in Palestine.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/27/world/middleeast/bds-israel-boycott-antisemitic.html

The council includes several groups designated by the United States as terrorist organizations, including Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine

Hamas was created in 1987, Islamic Jihad in 1981 - very roughly 18 and 12 years after the start of the settlement movement in Gaza/West Bank, afaik. The PFLP are a secular resistance group dating back to the late sixties.

Nelson Mandela and the ANC were only removed from the US terrorist "watch" list in 2008.

    My initial question was:
How much land have Israelis "stolen" in the last 40 years?
    Your response:
Well 7,099 KM that they brazenly lay claim to illegally.
    My response:
To claim and to steal are different things. And where you got this claim?
    You simply ignored my question.

You didn't answer my initial question and you know it.
Nobody forces you to respond my posts, especially if you have nothing to respond.

Dude. Reputable news sources publish the maps showing the ever decreasing size of Palestinian territory. They also show the videos of Palestinians being evicted, their houses being bulldozed, and illegal Israeli settlements being built. Israel steals land and water.

Are you trying to say that Israel hasn't appropriated land in the occupied territories?

You are playing pedantry. Stole means taking something that doesn't belong to you. Israel stole/steals land. They stole the Golan Heights. Laying claim can mean either taking rightful ownership or stealing when it comes to Israel.
I got this fact from the official geography of Israel of the 40's as compared to the stolen land or 'disputed' land of today. 'Disputed' meaning Israel stole it and won't acknowledge they did. What thief would?

    Dude,
do you know that land is measurable? Do you know that land cannot be moved or hidden? I don't need pictures and videos. I ask a very simple question: how much land have Israelis "stolen" in the last 40 years?

This interactive map explains quite clearly what land was seized and when, starting from 1967

You can add it up from the map supplied, which provides it year by year from 1967, so stop being obtuse.

You are speaking about stealing and appropriating land, not me. So it's your task, not mine. Give the number and justify it.

I've given you a map which gives the numbers and manner in which land was taken. You refusing to read it is your problem, and is simply evasion.

I've given him the number twice.
If I break into his house and claim his telly would he consider it stealing I wonder?

You aren't very good at this, are you?

Are you stating that israel hasn't seized any land outside its 1967 borders?

You already proved that you don't know the meaning of the word "to steal". No need to repeat it.

I'm stating nothing. I just asked a very simple question and you cannot answer it. That's the truth.

You also think that stealing and claiming is the same? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,060 ✭✭✭✭biko

I don't know what the fuss is all about.
It's pretty racist of Palestinians to want to exclude others from their ethno-state.
They need more open borders, and less closed minds!

If I build apartments on land that I took from somebody else, I've done far more than claim it.

    It's been answered.

It is when Israel does it.

There comes a point when we really need to stop feeding the trolls...

One of those points might be when yer wan who joined a week ago and has yet to post outside this thread fails to understand what stealing land means.

Another might be when yer wan who manages 50 posts a night(!) pops along later with another 6 or 8 posts in a row, full of 10 year old pictures and videos with either no English or no dialogue at all, that completely fail to refute the multiple examples given of water being stolen...

So - another 7 posts (in a row!), more shouting down other people, and - of course - completely missing the point. Or deliberately diverting from it.
That has nothing to do with Israel. Israel supplies all the allocated water its required to.

Stop playing the victim if i was shouting people down I am sure the mods would have warned me since I have not received a warning less of the backseat modding please.

There is NO water being stolen.

You realize Israel IS actually entitled legally to water from the west bank right?

They can also BUY it from Palestinians. Which they do.

Its not my fault English is your only language.

Maybe if you actually spoke Arabic you might be able to help Palestinians more.

Those pictures are recent its gaza NOW.

    Odhinn

    THAT MAP IS OBVIOUSLY INCORRECT.

From 49 until 67 the West Bank was part of Jordan and Gaza was part of Egypt.

Neither territory had anything to do with Israel at the time. The map is bull****.

Palestinians have more land now under their control than they have ever had in history.

    That is a indisputable fact.

Before 49 Palestine was a HUGE region that also included Jordan.

It was TWICE THE SIZE of what that map says it was.

The map is obviously fake and totally incorrect.

The WHOLE region fell to the British. They divided it up they gave over three quarters of the land to the Arabs who lived there. Some of these arabs became Jordanians and some became Palestinians.

This fact is further demonstrated by the fact that both Egypt and Jordan claimed parts of Palestine to be theirs until 67. And even after that Palestinians tried to claim Jordan in the 80s. They tried to overthrow the Jordanian family.

There are still Jordanians and Palestinians today who dispute the border between Jordan and Palestine.

Yet people think to this day that the only Arabs in the region were those that today call themselves Palestinians.

Egyptians Jordanians and Palestinians ALL speak the same dialect of Arabic. They all practice sunni islam.
