Ken. The great all-rounder. Sagat is strong too, though. But Ken is better. Ken/Ryu are the best SF characters.

Blanka was the first character I ever played as. I remember it like it was yesterday.

However, Ryu to me, is Street Fighter. He's the Hulk Hogan of the Franchise.

Surprised im saying this but going with Blanka.

A tough decision as Ryu is the most iconic character and possibly the true SF king. HOWEVER, Blanka has won me over by being a bit of a dark horse and whooping the original all-american champ Guile and the popular E Honda.

I hope to see Ryu in a third-place playoff so he can get the recognition he deserves.

Blanka is for beginners who rely on the shock and roll repeatedly.
Ryu is for experts who need lots of great moves. The hurricane kick, fireball and uppercut are devastating when timed right.
Also people like Blanka but don't want to be Blanks
People want to be like Ryu

Ryu is iconic and probably the poster boy of Street Fighter. For me though, Blanka is this sympathetic beast and his AC/DC gimmick and wildness was awesome to 8 year old me. Nostalgia wins this for me.

Blanca is a cute lil creature with a heart of gold and an uncanny knack of knowing what you're going to say before you say it. Although a tea totaller he is great craic at birthday parties and a fan of old school Brazilian thrash metal.

Ryu for me, Blanka does too much jumping so Ryu easily takes him out with a shoryuken and then flattens him with a well timed hadoken

Wouldn’t have thought it before this thread began but as it’s progressed my fondness for the great green beast has returned. A really unique character and a savage fighter in close quarters. Plus I love the way the announcer says "Brah-zil".

Hate to do this to Ryu but it’s Blanka for me.

Ryu.

He is street fighter. His moves are more difficult and he's for the sophisticated player. Blanka is for the button bashing amateur. Tap punch for electricity. Back forward punch for roll. Easy combos. Hadoken and shoryuken were hard to master. A character for the discerning fighter.

100% Ryu. You knew you had moved up a gear when you could pull off the dragon punch and hurricane kick at will, absolute game changer. Blanka was more user friendly initially but Ryu had finesse and is one of the most iconic computer game characters of all time.
