It was a accident he is a leinster legend and his name has been damaged because the irish media hate rugby

Perhaps it was. The media don't hate anything, they will report ANYTHING that they think will sell. To contradict the sage words of Jessie J, it is about the money, money, money....

The media in Ireland are very bias depending on which sport you play. Rugby players are giving a very tough time and get away with very little such as Sean obrian and paddy jackson but football/soccer players get a free ride in the media such as Ismahil Akinade. I was wondering why this is so? shouldn't every sports star be treated equally?

Because it suits the medias open borders agenda to allow all immigrants in and to never criticise their bad behavior.

case in point, no mention of his crimes

Sounds like a classy individual, alright.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

But paddy jackson lost his job ismahil akinade was given offers from most irish football clubs. football players never get bad coverage in the media look at how zebo and murray were treated after they recorded a woman they gangbanged surly that should not be made public??why did liam miller not get the same coverage after his gangbang in sunderland ?

Take a break from this thread for a couple of days. While you are doing so fact check that accusation regarding Liam Miller. If you can substantiate it to me via PM ill lift the thread ban.

FWIW, i think you are thinking of a different player, and its a disgrace you would besmirch the reputation of someone who has passed away tragically.

Akinade got an order out against media outlets from putting his name to this. Nothing to do with sport, football, a media bias, or the media's open border agenda.

Just drank a little too much blew off some steam after a long hard season maybe peed in public but you would swear he murdered someone. Rugby guys get a raw deal when it comes to the media. Footballers are treated as gods such as Brady in the Euros scoring a goal against Italy's B team who had already qualified from the group

SOB p*ssed on somebody in a crowded pub. It wasn't about blowing off steam and getting hammered (although I'm sure some steam came off it while he was doing it).

Notice the media never mentioned his name? It was only through social media that he was identified.

The footballers absolutely are not put on anything near the same pedestal. The Brady goal was a huge moment, putting Ireland through to face the host nation and competitive knock out moment. That is about the equal to the Ireland rugby team getting to the semi-final of the RWC (accounting for the smaller number of top tier teams).

How the hell is pissing in a bar while drunk and scoring a goal in a major championship even in the same ball park...

    Listen to yourself.

not gulity but lost his job in ireland where as Ismahil Akinade was found guilty and still played in ireland for multiple clubs

Had to google him and tbh the league of Ireland only ever gets a paragraph in papers so he would have went unnoticed

Irish international rugby players in this country can walk on water and for what reason I don't know. They are the most overhyped and overrated sports stars we have. Considering the amount of actual decent rugby nations there are, the Irish rugby team have never got past the quarter final stage at a World Cup, which is something that even Scotland, Wales, Argentina etc. have managed to do. Rant over.

Don't know what the OP is talking about, rugby players in this country are media darlings.

A bit rich coming from an Irish soccer player who wasn’t eligible to play fir Ireland. Good man Tony

    Yeah you tell him Ted!
We need strong, thorough-bred Irishmen like CJ Stander, Jean Kleyn, Bundee Aki, Will Addison, Richardt Strauss, Niyi Adeolukun, Max Sorenson, Quinn Roux, Rodney Ah You, Jared Payne......

Sports stars in general are spoiled by the media. All of them.

It's ok op. You don't like football. You're a rugger hugger, get on with your day, embrace the rugby life, enjoy a few Heinos for yourself and don't be making silly threads.

I'm not joking. I trained to be a journalist and worked as a sports editor for many years.

Everyone should be able to remove themselves from a story and view it with a clear mind. Maybe I was paranoid about it but it definitely left me more realistic regarding my own teams' chances of doing well.

Since I left the game I'm free to engage in romantically hoping that we can win when we've no chance whatsoever.

...there have been plenty of reported cases, off the top of my head

Jeff Hendrick, public drunkness / assault charges.

Anthony Stokes, all over the place for his multiple assault charges and most recently the stalking of his Ex.

    Darron Gibson, drink driving charges.

Samir Carruthers, throwing pints of piss at people at Cheltenham.

Phil Babb & Mark kennedy getting locked and arrested on an away trip.

Just because these guys are lower class they get a free pass to behave like animals but someone respectful from a good family like paddy jackson loses his job and has his good name dragged through the mud

Please. It’s worse in the UK media but both here and over there, the media and much of the public are much more deferential to rugby players than footballers. The whole “gentlemen playing a rough sport” thing is believed by many. You hear things about footballers but also about rugby players. The rugby players don’t get as much media attention though.

    They are in their hole.

You both know that journalists can write opinions pieces too, yeah? And the televisual equivalent? I’m never confused about whether I’m watching/reading an opinion piece or not.
