People being killed by one punch to the head seems more and more common

I know there's an awful lot or murders these days. But just recently I realised that I can think of three murders within the last year or two that involved death occurring at the result of one punch. Can it really happen that easily? I was in a street fight against two guys once and I never felt like I could've ended up dead.

One was a keyboard player in Waterford. His girlfriend was talking to a thug and as she walked away from the thug and back to her boyfriend, the thug yelled out a demeaning remark. The keyboard said something like "don't you talk to her like that" and ended up being punched in the face and killed. As punishment the convicted thug got landed with a fine of €100! I'd expect more than that for littering.

And most recently was the case in Kilkenny where some guy was fired up after the latest Conor McGregor fight, and punched a father of four in the head resulting in death. Everyone in the house it had occur in were locked inside for about 8 hours so that they couldn't report the incident.

The first I heard was some foreigner in Monaghan. Think he might have been Lithuanian. Punched a man dead on the street. Anyone remember it? Anyway, I get very sad and angry when I hear of these stories. All these guys glorify Conor McGregor.

Its not the punch that kills in most cases, Its the head cracking off the ground.

Happens a lot in Australia they call it "king punching".

Most of time its a sucker punch, pure scum to do that to anyone.

I would hope that that's because he was still all fired up, and also because he mightn't have yet realised that the bodyguard was dead.

Joe Duffy. They didn't say she was trying to make him jealous, but you know the way girls will do these things to get their boyfriend's attention! She should not have been over there talking to that sort of person.

A few years ago in Australia they introduce minimum sentencing for it. I think it’s something like 8 years.

Yeah. I saw fight one night in Athlone where a guy got knocked down with one punch and fell back bounced off the curb. Probably the fact he was a big dude as in 20+ stone looked like, saved him.

I doubt she expected it to escalate the way it did. I'm sure she feels terrible

My father warned me Athlone is a dangerous town.

What's even more disgusting is to think this happens out on the street with people watching. Imagine having to watch knowing somebody is going to end up dead knowing there is nothing you can do.

It’s called a “king hit” . I think it originated from brawls in the kings cross area.

Lads were getting sucker punched weekly. It was like the ice bucket challenge

    .

He got five years for manslaughter so don't know where you're getting that €100 fine from...

(Should have been more than five IMO as he was out on bail for another unprovoked assault at the time but that's neither here nor there...)

They are bigger football fans, so probably best we do something about that first.
The most ardent football fans are always scum bags anyway.

Ya it's 10 years minimum also they completely overhauled the liquor laws in 2014 in response to 2 lads being killed.

Pure speculation and grossly unfair on the girl in question who is suffering enough I'm sure without stuff being invented to make her feel worse FFS

As in they don't throw haymakers or sucker punches?
Or they know how to strike with deadlier consequences?

As in, they know how to strike with deadlier consequences. If a guy has trained in a martial art or mma etc then he knows how to put his weight behind a punch. Then if he goes out, gets drunk one night and decides to be a prick and sucker puck someone then he is likely to do a lot of damage.
