Truss to Trade. Does she have exciting new jam export deals planned?

Whens the confidence vote - there's enough rebels he's wholly failed to get onside to down him.

It's fairly obvious to anyone that Corbyn is the issue for Labour at the minute. Why is his leadership going unchallenged? Do the Labour membership think he is the best man for the job even though he's electorally toxic as proven by the polls.

40% at the last poll that mattered
Polls are particularly unstable in these extraordinary times

Who is playing that xylofoam? Is that Tubular Bells opening refrain?

It's being picked up by Sky, CNN and Channel 4 News microphones. It's hard to listen to.

I'm already dying of laughter after Raab here, so if JRM makes the list -and as Brexit Sec no less- have some pity because I'm going to need stitches!

I mean, you guys are really good, but you just gotta hand it to the Brits: no-one, but no-one, does humour like they do!

A new word must be invented soon, for parody-beating reality. All those "looking glass" and "postmodern" expressions just do not do justice to the surreal character of it all.

Barclay is staying on as Brexit Secretary.

The notion that when it really comes to the crunch all these anti no-deal conservatives will stay loyal to their party and avert the threat of a Jeremy Corbyn administration is fatally flawed imo. Justine Greening called no deal "the most profoundly unconservative policy i've ever come across" on tv this morning. For these people the immediate threat isn't Corbyn, its the thought of plunging their country into the kind of unmitigated chaos none of them have seen before. Ken Clarke is standing down at the next election, as are several other of his colleagues, they have nothing to lose and i dont think it would matter if they did anyway, they will take Johnson down if the need arises. I have absolutely no doubt about it.

I wish Sky would at least explain what it is.

you also had the empire's theme from star wars in there as well. Raab as foreign secretary, eh? Thats a really interesting development as the idiot didn't even know how important Dover was in terms of the UK's trade when he was brexit secretary a while ago. The EU are going to make absolute mince meat of this lot.

Lynn "our flood defences worked really well up to the point at which they failed" Truss. I saw her belly laughing at Johnsons lame "Dude" schtick during yesterdays leadership announcement and knew then she'd have to fit in somewhere.

I can hear the ‘Emperors March’ in there!! Quite apt tbh, as its like Emperor Palpatine has materialised for real and has taken control. Priti Patel in government. Oh dear.......

It’s the imperials March/Vader theme from Star Wars.

    Apt and Thematic.

Adam Boulton was just discussing the increased numbers of protestors around Whitehall and referred to the team broadcasting from Westminster as having their own protestors before handing over to them.

Julian Smith to NI according to the Beeb.

Ive never even heard of that person.
Does this mean they’ll be as clueless as Bradley?

Boris might be putting together this cabinet to precipitate the breakdown of government and force a GE. I wouldn't put anything past him.

Article behind a paywall, but the headline wouldn't inspire confidence.

So yesterday we had a discussion about voting records speaking for themselves, I assume we can have the same thinking regarding a PM and their cabinet choices and what they stand for. In that case, Boris Johnson is a right wing racist who is going to ruin the country and could take us with him.

Jeremy Hunt looks to have been given the bums rush (or didn't seek a position knowing he'd not be asked)

Supposedly, he wanted what Boris would not offer him: Chancellor/ Home Sec/ Foreign Affairs.

Apart from being a Brexiteer cabinet, this is also a very right wing cabinet.

As others have pointed out this is the most libertarian type government we have seen for a long time in the UK.

Definitely going to be interesting until it goes Pete Tong.

He refused to be moved from Foreign Secretary which is one of the four great offices of state so Johnson had to remove him as he'll have allies who will expect rewarding for their support.

Not a totally unique strategy to be fair.

Do think its an odd call to dispatch Brokenshire,,popular and swore allegiance to Johnson early and went to bat for him in the media.

Dominic Raab as Foreign Secretary, lol

This guy couldnt support a deal that he himself negotiated. He literally cannot agree with himself !

Paradoxically Boris being Boris might help.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-49098278
The Irish Times sees Mr Johnson as a "new nadir" in British politics, but holds out some hope that his personality might provide a way out of the backstop impasse.

"The best hope for Ireland and for Europe... is that Johnson will be guided by three of his worst traits... he doesn't mean a word he says, he is obsessed with power, and he is willing to betray those closest to him in the pursuit of that power," contends its editorial.

Been said many times Brexit can’t get more bizarre and it always does somehow.

We are now into a fatally comedic ridiculous cabinet.

The only upshot is when it all goes south it’ll be on the laps of each one of the absolutely unfit for office clowns Johnson has appointed and his own.

This is not a cabinet to govern, this is a cabinet to fight an election. They are expecting a general election sooner rather than later

Raab as foreign secretary is just so depressing. I had hoped we had had heard the last of him when he lost the leadership bid.

Jeremy Corbyn has made calls to have a snap GE.

Theresa Villiers has been appointed Secretary for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

To be fair to Dominic Raab, he can't do any worse than the previous Foreign Secretary.

Or maybe he will, and then he too can some day become PM.
