I thought it would bother me but I saw it a few times in public over the years.

    It's very natural and human.

People would be up in arms if someone was giving a blowjob on the street but breastfeeding is now acceptable?

    Some world.

"So is sh1tting" is one of the greatest, cleverest, most original ripostes. Its brilliance is magnified by how directly comparable defecation is to feeding a baby.

This thread is just a wind up. It is really not worth engaging with.

Breast feeding is the best nutritional start a baby can get, and breastfeeding rates in Ireland are among the lowest in Europe.

I know breastfeeding can be difficult and painful and not for everyone, but if you can breastfeed, don't let idiots tell you how you should go about it.

Made only more magnificent by the fact that most babies you see wearing nappies - are likely crapping in public too :)

You must name and shame those restaurants that allow this. Imagine going out for a nice meal, your head clamped in place, eyes held open by glue, and you're put in front of a breast feeding mother.

Why are you afraid of boobs OP?

    is the OP this guy?

Genuine question. This seems to be all the rage now, and the argument for it, is that it's completely natural! Well so is ****ting, yet society dictates that we must withdraw to the shadows for something so 'natural'.

Breasts are used to feed hungry babies.

    Did you know that OP?

Newsflash: you don’t have to watch. You’re choosing to.

    Weirdo, don’t be that guy.

By that logic, it shouldn't bother you if there's someone sitting across from you in a restaurant, bollock naked and covered in bee-stings.

If you can’t see the difference between providing sustenance for a small child and giving sexual pleasure to an adult then you’re to be pitied.

    Some world indeed.

Why would they do that? It doesn't involve (hopefully) feeding a baby so it's unnecessary.

What's wrong with that analogy? Both are based on the premise that one is choosing to look at something extraordinary.

You're free to move about in public. You don't need to feel trapped or restrained by all those suckling babies. Just put 1 foot in front of the other, until you've reached a safe space for yourself to have a shíte.

Ah ok.... that one flew right over my radar :D

Every time I see a thread like this it reinforces my belief that the breastfeeding isn't the thing that outrages the male posters against it, it's the fact that the woman has dared to use her breasts for a purpose other than to give them a boner and their egos can't take that.

    They’re not really comparable.

But, playing your game I’d be more curious than anything else. I’d definitely have questions.

I probably wouldn’t order anything with honey in it though.

If you gathered that from my question, you have some sort of Freudian complex.

Why aren't they comparable, going on the argument that you have to look at neither?

eh, the title of your thread is "Why is breastfeeding in public acceptable"

If people feel a bit uncomfortable about the boob being completely out, I get that - but that doesn't happen. Breastfeeding mothers always cover their boob. I don't think they want their entire breast exposed either.

Eh, and you gathered from the title that that it shouldn't be acceptable to breastfeed, according to me, because breasts should be reserved exclusively to give men boners. I mean, you're really filling in the gaps yourself here aren't you.

The more pertinent argument is that one is for providing sustenance to an infant.

Yes it does. I previously commented about using a scarf or something to cover themselves, which is fine. Exposing fully and breastfeeding in plain view in a restaurant is trashy, lazy and sloppy.

All you ever see is the top of the breast. The baby's head covers everything. You'd see more boob in a low cut top but no one wants to ban them.

Neyite hit the nail on the head, it's immature assholes who can't handle the notion that breasts have a function beyond getting them excited.

Using your words because one is extraordinary and the other isn’t.

Nothing extraordinary about a woman breastfeeding, despite your own particular hang ups.

That doesn't happen. If it does its usually accidental and probably mortifying for the woman involved. Be a gentleman and don't stare, it makes you look like a creep.
