City spent more money on fullbacks just last summer than the cost of every defender currently at Liverpool combined.

In fairness we inherited a great fb in Trent and wisely spent a few Million on Robertson. Matip was a free and Loveren was a Rodgers signing.
Virgil proves we can match City on signings, we only fall short on the wages that City can offer.

Graphic here from Reddit to show teams the eventual CL winners beat along the way from the knockout stage.

Barca in 2015 and Real last year had tough runs. Same as ourselves this year.

Meh. all looks much of a muchness tbh, you're more than likely going to have to beat some great teams to win the CL, I think that's obvious.

Long time since Juventus won it. 1996 I think.

Shows the strength of the Italian league.

I'm starting to think of them as the continental Celtic

Too much sideways passing for me Clive. ;)

I'm sure he is as shocked as the rest of us that he ended up captaining Liverpool to the European Cup :D

Who offered Sturridge a contract? Liverpool app send me an email about it but I couldn’t find it in the article at all.

    Give it up!

A vital cog in a CL winning team, now a living legend, embrace it.

I'm sure he'll still be making people gobble some humble pie next season and the season after that.

When did Inter become a player in the market again?

Obviously we're heading for a heartbreak

    When the Chinese bought them?

Almost like some intentionally ignore the valid criticisms of him.

S’pose if you’re going to blindly champion a player no matter what Henderson is a better choice than Sturridge.

    Haters gonna hate!

You must have hated it when he hoisted that Cup above his head!

Ox has taken the #15 shirt..... I think he's been injured more then Sturridge has over their respective careers to date ..... Fingers crossed both enjoy an injury free spell :)

You should equally give it a rest.

Do you really think the guys (me included) who criticized Henderson "hated" seeing him lift the cup?!

After the 13/14 season Henderson didn't perform the same in the following season but you could say that for a lot of the team in Rodgers last full season.

Klopp put Henderson in a position then that was not a position that was natural to him and therefore looked like Henderson was someone who could have been improved on for that position, i.e. Fabinho.

There were two seasons of Klopp's time where Henderson was also out a lot with his ankle injuries and it looked like he wasn't being missed in the starting 11.

In fairness to Henderson this season he went to Klopp and told him he wanted to be starting again in his natural position further up the field and he has delivered with the performances we've seen since February.

It's great to see him putting in those performances again to the point where he was at the 13/14 run in and I'm happy to say long may it continue.

You weren't around to defend my honour when the above was posted at me a few days ago, shame that, I could've done with a bit of back up.

Excellent post i think you will find the majority who criticized Henderson myself included criticized him in that DM/6 role and wanted to see him played further up the field.

I also stand behind not wanting him as captain on the pitch as i don’t think he is vocal enough on it.

Henderson also gives his best on the pitch despite not having the natural talent of others.

Pointless game now gone to extra time.

Flip of a coin would've done.

Apologies, there are these things called work and family that get in my way of coming to peoples rescue on internet forums!

Maybe I should set up a Dogbert signal! :pac:

Trent is having a great game, best player on the pitch IMO.
