I dunno about Pepe in fairness. A super player but €80m is an awful lot of money for someone who won't be playing every week (unlike VVD and Allison).

Having said that he'd push the front three to up their games even more and would allow us excellent cover if someone was rested/injured.

If we get Pepe, or another player of his caliber, then I'd imagine at least for the games against smaller teams we'll be seeing a lot of Klopp's old 4231. Tried it a small bit this season with Shaqiri starting and a bit last year before Coutinho left.

Would be nice if we really increased our attacking options with genuine quality, make it a fight to get in the team and no drop off in quality no matter who was picked, something like Sane, Son and Depay (never happening I know) but something like that! If this Pepe lad is at that level or near enough then sign him up.

Get your misgivings but I think that's the point - we're now at the level where appropriate buys to build the squad are either gonna be promising youngsters or pricey stars that can enhance the starting 11.

Time to start thinking like a big club, City have proper A grade options in attack. Going from the fun boy three to Derek, Sturridge and say, Shaqiri was a huge drop off. Winning needs backing.

If we do sign him, and I know very little about him other than watching the obligatory YouTube clip on mute, it'd be great to get a deal done so early once again. We're at the stage now with this club that whoever we sign, I'm utterly convinced it's gonna work out for us. Our recruitment has been sensational in the past 2-3 years.
