Tesla offered me 19k trade in against a 2018 Hyundai Ioniq EV, with 10k on the clock.

That seems a bit crap no?! Anyone any experience selling them second hand, was thinking trade in would be around 22k.

Didn't I explain that to you before? Tesla doesn't do trade-ins. If you want to trade in your car, they will ring a few numbers in the trade who will bid on it. These bids are ultra low. Tesla will present to you the highest bid.

You should be able to sell your car in a private sale for thousands more than this "trade in price"

You probably did, I may have been drunk.
That is what the garages do tho right, same thing Tesla is doing? Gonna sell privately for Shure as I it's worth far more.

    About 24k I'd imagine.

You can install this and it will turn on the wifi when you connect to the Ioniq bluetooth.

Can't say this is working for me. I connect to the Bluetooth perfectly fine, but the hotspot never starts up, unless I manually toggle it in the app.

Not really. Say you're buying a €50k car and the car you trade in is worth €20k in a private sale. If the garage doesn't want to sell your own car, they offload it to the trade alright for a low price like €18k. But they give you a good price for it, as you are paying the full asking price of the new car. Say €20k. It's optics. Your cost to change is €30k. If you were a cash buyer with no trade in, you might have been able to buy the €50k car for €47k

Tesla make you pay the full asking price of the new car too, but they do not give you a good price :D So you still pay the €50k but they only give you €18k, cost to change €32k :D

An impromptu wash today, turned into some de-ionising, some polishing and eventually a touch up of some waxing. Mostly due to spotting a few unseen minor scuffs (brushing on the drives door sill, and some water spots on the lower half of the car). In amongst it all I spotted this:

Which gave me create pleasure to peel off.

    But also this:

That's looking forward from the back of the car, where the bumper meets the wheel arch.
2 thoughts, either the bumper has had a knock and it's chipped the paint off the arch, or paint just flaking. Wonder might it rust if not treated?

Ya some folks were PM'ing me saying they were offered 25k for an identical year/km as mine in a deal against a new Kona. Private sale it is so.

Anyone get the back bumper wrapped?
I got my grill on my black ioniq wrapped but going back to get the grey part around the fog lights wrapped next Saturday.
Thinking of getting the back bumper wrapped whilst I'm there.

Anyone figure out a way to set auto hold permanently on?
PITA having to set it every time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,766 ✭✭✭✭unkel

No there is no way. Perhaps through the Hyundai interface software on a laptop hooked up to the OBD2 port. But not through the normal menu in the car itself.

Personally I don't care about this system. But I would like if the car would always just start in sport mode :(

It seems ridiculous that for an electric car, it cant remember simple settings :(

Yea. My routine is Power button, then wess button off, auto hold on, then sport mode on.
Just want to be able to press power button and go.

I have to say that I dont notice any difference between WESS on or off...does it save power having it off?

Don't think so but I don't like the noise of it. I only leave it on if I'm in the city centre or where lots of pedestrians about

I've gotten used to my routine after starting the car.

Drive mode, auto hold, vess, straighten goggles.

Is it just the "bong, bong" when reversing or something else?

No i think that happens regardless, it's more like a humming noise.

I can only hear it when I'm barely moving, I think it only comes on below 15 miles an hour or something.

I'd say it was done by design. Not in sport mode, because people might give out about range, etc.

Maybe, but it doesnt stay at max regen either.
In any case, if thats what I set it to, thats what it should stay at.

That was a bug. Fixed in the firmware sometime in 2017 iirc :p

You can save the regen mode for normal sport and eco in the radio menu screen. Press the EV button and then follow your nose. Those with older firmware reported it forgetting settings but those with 09-2017 or later firmware versions have no issues. Dealer should update to latest for free.
