How long has Carbery left on his contract with Munster? Did he sign an extension recently? I assume it will run out to coincide with Sexton's retirement.

No, he's here for a few more years, 2022 ... Sexton will be retired by then

I know Leinster will want him playing and He'll want to get on the pitch but the medical staff would want to be really very extra sure he's ok before i'd send him into this game.
For all the talk about the bite being gone from the interpros i can't see this game being like anything other than a Marvel fight scene.
For that matter can the thread name be changed to "Leinster v Munster: We're in the endgame now"

    Made indications he would....

Sorry he didn't exactly some out and say it, it was at something else he said he wanted to make the Lions tour as well

Realistically, he'll be 34 before the world cup...the lion's tour is 2 years after that.... there's no guarantee he'll be first choice for Ireland then, let alone a Lion's contender

Mike Adamson appointed as referee for the game.

First SRU match official to take charge of knock-out game since they were re-introduced to the Championship in 2010.

IMHO Leinster should (sensibly) ring the changes. I don't see the same starting XV from the weekend backing up against what will be a highly motivated Munster side. The lads who didn't make the 15/23 will be chomping at the bit. Obviously, you can't put out a B side, but there are some players who could slot in for sure without really weakening things too much.

I'd expect some changes probably Byrne for Sexton, Ruddock for Fardy with Kearney coming onto the bench, VDF for SOB. Gibson Park for O'Sullivan on the bench with Frawley covering 10.

I would expect the 15 that went on the pitch last week will be chomping at the bit to correct the errors they made last week....

This is potentially their last game of any significants till the World Cup if they lose....I can't see many of them wanting to sit this one out....They need to be capable of playing a Qtr and then a WC semi in a short period.

Maybe 12/15 or thereabouts will start. The first string should and will start (for the most part).

I'd like to see Goggin get the start. Every bloody pundit rolls out "educated left peg" when talking about scannell. Yeah educated at kicking a ball out on the full!
Goggin is actually the bigger man and I'd say his kicking game is actually better and his passing game. Scannell is probably the better defender though.

The Leinster team have had huge amounts of rest since the 6n. No reason they can't play 2 big matches in 2 weeks.

I’d expect very few changes to the starting 15. Lowe might drop out if JGP is fit, possibly with Luke moving to the bench. Ruddock might start with Fardy dropping to the bench. If Sexton isn’t injured there’s no way he’s not starting a semifinal. Kearney took a bad knock at the end of the game on Saturday and was down for a long time, so he could be a doubt.

I'd be a fan of Goggin, but honestly don't think his kicking game is anywhere near as good as Scannell's. He's had a great season tho, I'd have no issues with him starting, but I expect we'll see him in the 23 jersey.

Ross Byrne will have to start this game. After not getting on the pitch last week, to be on the sidelines again for a big game you wouldnt be surprised if he looked at pastures new

Ross has played nearly 1100 mins this season. Sexton not even 700. He would have more minutes only Leinster wouldnot risk him and wanted to give Frawley experience.

He has started nearly as many European games as Sexton this season. Played in more than Sexton

He is 24 and is about to be the number 1 starting 10 at one of the tops in Europe.....

I said on the Leinster thread that in reality Ross is our starting 10 and Sexton at this stage is a marquee 10 because of the amount of times he actually plays for Leinster.

Please explain why he would be looking for pastures new?

Ross Byrne would be CRAZY to move from Leinster. He is very much the heir apparent to sexton, who is playing less and less as the years go by.

As said already he has played much more minutes this season than sexton, and will again put in much more time next season.

all that being said, i expect him to start on saturday.

I don't think Byrne will look to leave but Leinster will need to keep him happy. He's set for another two seasons as Sexton's understudy.

Is there free street parking anywhere around the RDS on a Saturday?

All players want to play on the biggest of days. Minutes against Zebre/Treviso/Dragons in the International windows dont matter a jot to a player like Byrne. He is a top class 10 and he knows this as well. To sit on the bench for the entireity of the game when the incumbent was not exactly pulling up trees would be taken as a lack of trust by the management in him. After his starring role against Ulster in the QF he could rightly expect to be regarded in higher terms than he is. Should Sexton start on the weekend and Byrne receive only garbage minutes at the end, then a player of his calibre will rightfully not be content with that.

He would be the starting 10 in 90% of teams in Europe and top level players want to be playing in the big games. Seeing Carty pass him in by in Ireland reckoning wont aid his mood either. Say he looked to move to Ulster, became their starting 10 and was the main man in their European games next season then he would be looking at bypassing Carbery as the backup 10 for Ireland not the 4th choice

Yeah a good bit would be free on Saturday especially on the Donnybrook side near the park, unless you are a Munster supporter then your getting clamped

This game is a bit of a lose lose for Munster. If we win, the leinster fans and all the 'pundits' will say munster only won because leinster are battered and depressed after last week's match

If we lose, it'll be because Munster are falling apart from the inside out

If it's a close game and leinster lose, the leinster fans will say Munster should have won by more because Leinster's heart wasn't in it, if it's a close game and Munster lose, it'll be Leinster who bravely overcame their loss last week and Munster bottled it.

If Munster hammer leinster (unlikely) it'll be because Leinster didn't turn up.

Even if the ref dots down a try himself, I'd still take a Munster win! :P :D

Not a chance is he looking at pastures new

Sexton has only a couple of years left and then he will be first choice at one of the best clubs in Europe
