Whats your thoughts on this - would you welcome the same change here?
Any interest in visiting the 3rd dimension on the back of a fungi inspired train?

Personally I think it's a good move. Microdosing has proven very effective in treating a number of ailments

    I would.

I had some wonderful, life-affirming experiences on magic mushrooms/ LSD. Right now, I'm committed to not taking any form of mind-altering drug as I'm sober, but I go back and forth as to whether I should be including shrooms in my recovery.

Trying to make something that grows up the hill there illegal is pointless anyway.

Took them for the 1st time last year. Outstanding experience. One of the most fulfilling and insightful things I’ve ever done.

tell us more Johnny - was it just a good buzz or did you change your outlook / attitude towards life after the experience?

I've heard (not sure if there is science to back it up) that micro dosing has benefits without the impairment of normal dosages.

i'm not your typical crusty but i guarantee if everyone had even one proper psilocybin or DMT experience in their lives, the world would be a happier place. Puts absolutely everything in perspective.

The fewer people taking drugs in Ireland the better.

Chris - your mom just called. Your dinner is ready.

I tried them in amsterdam years ago. I was there with friends who had tried them before. So we went to a headshop and asked about them. The guy had loads and they were all rated 1 - 5 for strength. One of my mates went for the 5's. They would give an intense tripping experience. Another who'd had a bad experience went for the 1's. they would give you a giggly happy feeling. I went for the 3's because they were called philosophers stones and have you an introspective type of high.

My friends got their mixed up. The mate who bought the 1's ended up under a blanket hiding from the TV for most of the night. Personally I experienced a bit of time speeding up and slowing down for 5 minutes and that was it.

I spent another night with friends who were on mushrooms. I was sitting on a couch and got up, got a glass of water and sat down again. My fried I was sitting next to said "grayson, where did you come from?" I said I had been there the whole night. He said "No. I've been talking to Adam Sandler for the whole night"

His trip was that I was Adam sandler. Honestly, that seems like a waste of a good trip.

One thing I've noticed throughout my long love affair with the auld mushies, is that they just didn't seem to care that they were made illegal - they just went on about their mushroom business.

    That's just how they roll.

    Badass little motherfúckers:D

Totally agree - I am sure there is a small % where it would be a negative experience but that could be the same as anything.
I like peanuts but somebody else would die if they dived into a bath of the little salty nuggets.

I'd agree. Hitting the DMT wall of "I'm going to die if I take another hit" then bashing through it is absolutely indescribable.

DMT is the one thing on my wish list that I never got to try. I did try some synthetic copy version of it which was complete whacky races territory but never the real stuff.

Haven't done any drugs in years but that DMT itch is still there to be scratched. Maybe one day!

i'd almost treat them like a vaccine - might make some people sick but the benefits in terms of the health of the heard far outweigh the negatives.

when you've blasted through the space/time continuum, spoken to yourself as a child, met strange entities from another dimension and realised that all living creatures are one then youre less likely to sweat the small stuff.

Ayahuasca now that's a heavy hitter.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

That's the one I really want to do. I have a friend who lived in Peru and went deep with it - he's a proper flower child. He's done it dozens of times whereas most people do it once or maybe twice.

    I'd like to try it.

If you want a quick trip try salvia divinorum.
Absolutely hilarious stuff for about 10mins .
Talk about going to another planet!

This is what happened last time they had legal magic mushrooms over there - seems to have contained just a smigeon of actual magic mushroom extract, which explains 80s fashion.

Definitely life changing if you push yourself all the way. The trip itself is intense but a breakthrough is something else. It's impossible to describe to people what it's like. I liken it to remembering how you felt in a dream without remembering the dream, a really intense dream.

One particularly weird salvia trip I spent some time as the dangly bit you pull on a zip, it was an experience to say the least!

    Sounds amazing.

Kinda similar to the K hole. When I came back out it wasn't that I couldn't remember what had happened, but I couldn't describe it or explain it in any coherent fashion. You just lack the words or even the mental imagery to recreate it sober.

It's better in general to deal with substance abuse in the context of healthcare rather than the judiciary, so for that reason I think they should be decriminalized.

In terms of actual use, I think the people microdosing for tangible benefits would be the minority and the people taking recreational doses at tangible risk would be the majority. Perhaps it should be only allowed under the supervision of a GP, perhaps a prescription basis where they link in every few months to make sure they're not displaying signs of psychosis....I don't think such a scheme should be covered by a medical card anyway.

The risks are hugely exaggerated in my opinion. A couple of sensible precautions and they are so minuscule as to just not be worth worrying about.

Probably the biggest risk worldwide is picking the wrong mushrooms (I'm not sure how much of a risk that is in Ireland, but in some places it's a very real one)

If they were farmed and distributed that would disappear overnight.

I think that's 100% true right now. However if the stuff is legal and you can get a proper supply that it's easy to dose with, then a lot more people would probably try it.

In Ireland if you want to try microdosing you'd need to either grow your own and figure out how to extract the psilocybin and dose the right amount. Or you'd need to buy a supply from the dark web.

Like with any decriminalization or legalization the real success will come with wide spread education - people will need to know what to take, how much and when to take it. With that people will be best informed to reduce the risk etc

I remember when they were legal over here for a year or so about a decade ago. Some wild nights in nightclubs around Dublin.

I wouldn't recommend that environment though. An empty beach on a sunny day or a nice open field.

It's hearing about truly horrifying experiences like talking to Adam Sandler that keep me on the straight and narrow.
