A nice cross and chain ( and a nifty fifty) would be acceptable

Get a scissors and cut the fifty into a cross.

Card and cash and stop overthinking it.

Card and wouldn’t be giving less than 100 euro to a god child.

    For having a Communion?

Depends on how traditional both she and the family are. If you're looking to be a bit unusual but still practical, I got my niece a jewelry box when she made hers and it went down well.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    A nice bracelet?

That's what I have ordered for my God daughter, her name and date of Communion engraved on it.

A beautiful set of personalized rosary beads ideal as a communion gift.
A gift that will last a lifetime.
Also be a great way to spend time with her praying the holy rosary

The child is making her first holy communion, I think it's fair to assume the family have faith.
I pray the holy rosary every day the power of prayer is immense.
The family who pray together stay together

I wouldn't assume anything of the sort, considering the amount of bouncy castle catholics out there! This is why I said that it depends on how traditional the family actually are.

It's still not a bad idea though. Better than money (and I'm, borderline athiest). This occasion is supposed to be a bit more solemn - save the money and goftcards for birthdays.

I wouldn't bet on it. It's the day out the vast majority of parents and kids want, as is evidenced by them not attending mass after the big day.

I'm a primary school teacher and half of my current 6th class who made their confirmation before Easter said they didn't believe in God. Out of 20 odd kids in my class, 3 families goto mass regularly. Faith is not something the vast majority have in my experience.

The kids were making upwards of a €1000 each too, for the Confirmation at least. That's a big attraction for them.

She's going to get the body of christ. What more could she want?

Why are kids still doing this? Is anyone actually Catholic in Ireland these days?

    Sad isn't is it.
I've no problems with people of no faith they are entitled to their own beliefs.
But not make a mockery of first holy communion

Times have changed, I got 50 quid for my confirmation in the cards from relations and neighbours and thought it was a lot of money.

No, the churches are full of atheists.

Honestly don't know if you're being serious or sarcastic.
The churches are empty aren't they? They closed the one near my parents house.

    An over oranged spray tan.
A horse and princess carrage or a hummer.
    A big flouncy dress.
    The customary bouncy castle.
    The photographer.
The big party in the local pub or club
    And hapes of money.
