I think if you've reached a point where you're boasting about your slaps on the wrist from an internet message board, then that's a good point to reassess your priorities in life.

Tend to agree. My brushes with the law on this site for the most part are for calling people trolls. And one for a meltdown in a game of WW :o

    Gotta stop doing that :(

Still it's gas - using standard words like imbecile, bigot or snowflake seems to upset some sensitive souls.. always figured if you take offence too easily and can't take the heat in the kitchen, then you get out.

No they don't, stop telling porkies. Mods are offered the job based on their posting history, interaction with other posters and general behaviour on the site. They don't know in advance if they are being considered for a modship until it's offered to them.

Plenty of people work hard trying to build up their rep so they can become a mod. They compete to get the position even if there is no official competition.

JoeyTheParrot. They don't like anyone disagreeing with their version of Gay and Trans rights even if you're liberal yourself. Agree with JTP or get banned.

Or maybe they're just good posters who have an interest in helping the site out? But that wouldn't fit in with the narrative now, would it?

Here 17 years and never received a single infraction.

Out of everything ive come across on this site in the years ive been on here it always amazes me how important my ****e spelling and grammar is to people :pac:

The first person to resort to being the grammar nazi has lost. Unless it's a thread about grammar.

There was a poster here called Magicmarker and they were great at correcting people's posts, I think they're banned now

    That's actually quite impressive.

I've received a fair few but I can't think of any where I though that the mods were wrong. In most cases, I was either drunk or knew that I was sailing very close to the sun.

And others couldn't be arsed. I've been asked in the past but why would you want to get involved in other people's petty online squabbles? And that'd be the most of it I reckon. Different matter dealing with stuff that was genuinely illegal or from perverts and so on.

It is curious though to watch other posters who take up the baton. People you might have enjoyed a bit of cut & thrust with before, can take on notions.

Received a couple of warnings which were clearly ridiculous:

    1. for using the term 'snowflakers'!!! I kid you not.

    2. for giving a reference to a type of Irish land use. I picked a random suitable spot on satellite imagery that demonstrated the issue, copied the location in Lat/Long and referenced it in a discussion about land use, so that others could type it into Google and see what I meant. It's called backing up your point, giving proof rather that waffling! This was met with howls about breaches of 'GDPR' and 'invasion of privacy', at which point the thread was zapped. You'd have to laugh, I'm still mystified :)

There was a great GDPR panic a while back, for sure.

    A long time here.

Got one for cracking a joke on the bargain alerts, which went over the head of a mod, who gave me a yellow card.

Got one for saying on the poltics forum for answering the question
"How can Sarah Sanders look at herself in the mirror every night?"
    with
"I hope her kids grow up to be as dishonest as she is, and it causes her no end of grief"

And another for answering a comment that said "If that was of Barack Hussein Obama it would have been deleted by now, and the poster banned.

    with

Oops. You let your facade drop again.

    We see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All trivial enough stuff. The politics forum is super strict and re the first one, sometimes the After Hours comes out in me when it shouldn't

Generally have a clean record since 2004 but got a week site ban for something I said to a mod.

It was worth it to be fair
