Was just going threw my profile there and decided to have a look threw my list of site Infractions over the years.

Without going into the finer details just yet :P Three different mods warned/banned me at least twice and then there where few others who only loved me a little bit :pac:

So whos the biggest fan of your posts on boards?

Far too many to name but it's blatantly obvious why they gave me the infractions.

They all just want the ride.

Go to the Animal and Pet forum if you want to see/get infractions.

It seems that any views outside of the forum group think is not tolerated.
Also, a newcomer in the forum who gets in a row with a regular poster, invariably end up on the wrong side of a moderator there.

I have two reasons for going there.

    1. The Post Your Pet Pics is enjoyable and doesn't tend to have rows.

    2. The general rows that erupt when a stranger has different views than the regulars. Some great rows there.

It must be the easiest forum to troll (not that I do).

    Dog lovers v cat lovers
    Cyclists v motorists
    Utd v Liverpool
    Atheists v Christians
Tax payers v social welfare recipients

It’s a minefield out there, impossible not to get infracted

It would be more interesting to list why your received infractions...

trolling (successfully appealed though it took nearly as long as the thread ban to sort)
abusive terms used (I referred to Liverpool fans as 'dippers')
Insulting other posters suggesting someone might have been mentally ill.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭begbysback

Comes from “Bin Dippers”, because you lot, allegedly, eat from bins.

Not at all, this is the thing, if someone has been infracted by a mod defending by honor then I feel I need to have been insulted first, however I’m not the least bit offended - don’t even know how the term originated, I mean it is possible that some homeless people support the greatest team in the world, and for those poor unfortunates to have to resorted to such, but surely these are in a minority and most wouldn’t be offended by this term?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,732 ✭✭✭BarryD2

Received a couple of warnings which were clearly ridiculous:

    1. for using the term 'snowflakers'!!! I kid you not.

    2. for giving a reference to a type of Irish land use. I picked a random suitable spot on satellite imagery that demonstrated the issue, copied the location in Lat/Long and referenced it in a discussion about land use, so that others could type it into Google and see what I meant. It's called backing up your point, giving proof rather that waffling! This was met with howls about breaches of 'GDPR' and 'invasion of privacy', at which point the thread was zapped. You'd have to laugh, I'm still mystified :)

JoeyTheParrot. They don't like anyone disagreeing with their version of Gay and Trans rights even if you're liberal yourself. Agree with JTP or get banned.

That's one job I couldn't do is be a moderator Its just as irritating as picking ticks from an energetic whippet in August.

Or trying to catch a mullet in a harbour on a warm summers evening.

A moderator must have great tolerance or lack tolerance.

So much red tape involved in the Internet, to me being a moderator would be a punishment rather than feeling in control or important...

Job? They do it for free and even compete for the opportunity in many cases.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

It's not the moderators I have a problem with (oh okay, there's a one I could give a kick in the hole to) but it's the snitches that better beware of my twitching eye....Just sayin'

7 from one mod for this username for example. Another mod who was racking them up took themselves out of the running by issuing a permanent ban from the relevant sub forum. But numbers will depend on whether you are talking about the sum of all user accounts, including closed ones, and/or still active one. There probably is a natural limit to multiple infractions, as it becomes harder and harder to stay alive after a certain point, and so the infraction counter stops with the permanent ban.

Bigger torpedo moves more ocean. Just sayin', is all like.

Now then, let's see - oooh, three pages of the things, I have been a naughty Goosey, haven't I! Mainly for off-colour smart comments/one-liners. Hey! You fucker Boom, you zapped me back in 2015! :pac:

    Are you serious?

They compete for the opportunity to be moderators, so it's like that then.

I had a few infractions and banns but I have an idea now of what way to discuss and respond rather than react.

After all boards is where I get a lot of my news as ive no tv and listen to music and YouTube videos mostly.

I have observed the moderation here and I am not at liberty to comment as the mods decision is final.
I learned that the hard way

It was in the football forum, no offensive language allowed. I rarely post there so wasn't used to the rules.

You're right, moderators have to decide what they think you might be offended by. That is a very grey area though in this case they were applying the charter which was fairly cut and dried.
