I'm thinking Arya will use her new spear to kill a white walker from a distance (perhaps at the edge of the battle), cut off its face with her Valyrian steel dagger, and use her Faceless Man tricks to get close enough to the Night King to stab him in the heart with the dagger.

They disintegrate as soon as either material touches them so that wouldn't work.

I presume she had the staff made as she figured she could do more damage with it, facelass man training with the Waif and all.

Anyone else think Stannis might make an appearance yet? It was odd they never showed what happened to him.

No it wasn't they just didn't show the actual gore of Brienne chopping his head off. She also confirmed in later episodes that she killed him and the show-writers confirmed he was dead.

Presumably he's buried in a mass grave near Winterfell. It would be somewhat ironic if he returned as a wight and killed Melisandre.

Yes, I remember them confirming Jon Snow was dead too.

    And the Hound :P

What I want to know is why the NK bothers turning babies into White Walkers.
The wights are just mindless creatures being controlled by the White Walkers. Kill a White Walker, all his wights die.

If the NK was the only White Walker, then obviously that's a big risk right there - if he dies, they all die. But it's also a lot of wights for one guy to have domain over. At least if he has a load of generals with their own armies, he can let them off to do their own thing.

It would be great to see him back ,the writers of the tv show treated him terribly.
The greatest general in Westeros outfoxed by a mutt like Ramsay Bolton.

I cant see him coming back though.

I think the undead army will be beaten in the next episode at a heavy cost (loads of supporting characters, maybe one or two main ones) but the NK himself will survive and fly to King's Landing. What happens then is anyone's guess. I can't imagine him actually teaming up with Cersei. She might be the queen but to him she's just another human that needs killing.

But I also can't see the NK killing Cersei. Her death (assuming she dies) needs to be more personal than that rather than just being fodder for the NK. Either Jamie or Arya will kill her. Maybe even Tyrion. But not the NK who has no history at all with her.

    Yeah but to what end?

Whats the point of it all for them? Whats the point of the endless night?

If they kill everyone in the world, then eventually they themselves will die off over time as various WWs die due to accidents, fire, falling into a bit of dragonglass etc...

So is it all just a big murder suicide mission?

I just think there has to be more to it than that.

1 - I think Bran is wrong and is doing exactly what Tyrion spoke to Jaime about, under estimating his enemy.

2 - The NK wants something other than the end of humanity and an endless night - he has to - because thats a rubbish thing to want!

Maybe he is seeking a way to reverse the spell he is under?

Would be great if you're right but it's fairly par par the course in sci fi/fantasy to have the big bad guy just be evil and want to wipe everything out because it's just what they do. I think what Bran said is all the motivation he has.

A kiss from Daenerys to turn him back into a prince?

Yeah maybe, but the whole set up seems very elaborate if thats all it comes down to.

    Now you're getting philosophical :)

What was the point in Dany spending years building an army to regain the iron throne? She could have quit much earlier on. Especially with her 3 dragons.

No doubt there is a reason the NK wants to wipe everyone out. Simple revenge maybe? To rule over everything? If Bran can see everything, then it would seem like Bran is the single biggest tactical positive the humans have, so killing Bran would be crippling to any defensive effort.

The NK was created by the Children of the Forest to defend against men. Maybe he's just an example of magic gone wrong; he sees his purpose as wiping out all living things, and so that's what he's doing.

Well for Dany she sees it as her destiny, her whole identity is wrapped up in being who she is.

In fact, I think a lot of people misread her as being power hungry to point out Jons claim to the throne as her first thought when she knew his parentage - I think it was a sudden identity crisis. If she isnt Danerys Targaryen, First of her name, breaker of chains, mother of dragons etc.... then who is she? No one.

I just cant believe that the NK (with the elaborate set up) is just out to kill everyone there is. And then do what?

How many white walkers is it alluded there are?

Regardless of how many there are, all the living people they kill will be turned into white walkers themselves, extending the army. Every bodies going to die!

Not beyond the realms of possibility that she will make an appearance imo. Her god has a vested interest in the outcome of this war, seemingly, so it might make sense for her to be there. Beric is also there, if I remember correctly from the last episode?

I think she is there somewhere in disguise. If she can make herself look like a foxy eurobabe when she is really 400 years old I reckon she could well be that young girl with the scar talking with Davos.

No, those killed get turned in wights, big difference when trying to kill them after.

Whatever order it plays out in, I'm convinced that the Golden Company and Lannister army will both be added to the army of the dead.

I do think the NK is en route to Kings Landing to make that happen though, along with whatever stragglers he picks up along the way.

All the wights and white walkers at winterfell will be beaten next week. This will culminate with a seemingly helpless Bran being approached by the last remaining WW lieutenant, who will then be disintegrated by one of Aryas dragonglass darts.

I think the Eerie will come back into play too. It'll be occupied by either good guys fleeing south or bad guys fleeing North.

She's defo coming back, she predicted last season that she would return once more to Westeros before her death (and that Westeros is where she would die) my guess she's rounding up other fire priestesses and priests to some and fight ice with fire.

I had previously been sure Arya would need to kill a wight Rickon or even Sansa but after Episode 2 I reckon it'll be a wight Gendry.
Rather that than Jon having to kill a wight Tormund / Davos

Where would all the dead from the Battle of the Bastards be buried, or would they have been burned? Same applies I guess to kills in Winterfell like Littlefinger. I'd imagine the Night King can summon additional large dead armies easily if they are buried nearby.

I'm predicting a Deus Ex Melisandre to happen when Jon Snow and co are backed into a tight spot they can't get out of.

What we don't know is if he can only resurrect bodies that have been killed by wights / white walkers - dunno can he just stroll past a graveyard and have a whole 'thriller' army appear?
