He still needs to appear in front on that panel next week and answer all the questions.

This is starting to smell very fishy.

I stood up for Delaney for the first few years of his reign but this is a joke.

If this loan business gets buried, there is no hope of any reform in the FAI. It stinks to high heaven. It’s time for reform or to foresake any shred of credibility the organisation could have.

Still don't think this is the end of this. Rumours swirling that this is damage control before the Sunday papers land, which could really move things along

Can't believe he's moved to a new role that's going to cost the FAI more money.

    Why isn't he simply sacked?

It's hard to believe how incompetent and out of touch with reality the FAI is.

So the FAI and Delaney are hoping that by this little piece of acting they will appease all those looking at what happened and be happy and stop all investigations. I think I have found a conspiracy theory I agree with. I wonder those his new position come with some of his CEO role with it and that position more like a figurehead. No just been very cynical

That's the hope I'm still holding on to.

Does anyone actually have the power to sack him in the fai?

Does this get him out of any questions about the loan then?

I feel they are hoping so but I say Delaney has a few more gunning for him now for it to go

    Yes, the board can.

Aside from the "interim CEO" Rea Walsh there are some quality candidates immediately linked as Delaney's successor

    Bertie Ahern
    Denis O'Brien
    David Drumm
    Sean Fitzpatrick
    Michael Fingleton
    Willie McAteer
    Michael Lowry
    Angela Kerins
    Ray Burke

Setting up a candlelit vigil in Dublin airport to welcome him back.

lol what chancers they are. I have no doubts all of the board members have profited very handsomely over the years. All of them need to be investigated, so shady and corrupt!

It's too late if you already are going to the game, it was actually too late when you decided to buy a ticket.

If you really want to protest stop going to games.
    And spread the word.

You are giving your support to the FAI and all it's carry on by going to the game.

Yup...boycott would be ideal, but won't happen. Flags will be taken away.....

    What would work?

    - mass arriving late?..No

    - chant / boo at a given time? ...maybe

    - turn back to pitch at given time?...unlikely

Only thing that will enact change is a prolonged, extended boycott of the senior national team's games tbh.

They patently do not care about anything aside from clinging onto power.

Boycotting the games would work for definite.

Full investigation needed here definitely. Don't care what FIFA have to say about government interference because they are taking Irish football fans for fools and it can't go on. Change is needed.

I said this a while ago. Nothing will change from within. It will take someone from outside (eg revenue, sport Council, a politician who wants to use it to raise a profile) to enable change. Sport Council should pull grants until there is proper, transparent corporate governance. Fvck FIFA, if they complain about interference, tell them get their houses in order. Supporters need to stop buying tickets too, talking about flags and this is BS.
The house needs to be burned down to be rebuilt. It won't happen from within, so it has to happen from outside.

Perhaps encourage fans who do go to games not to wear green, but red colours instead, as a symbol of how they're bleeding the game dry. Broadcasters would surely be forced to explain why on camera shots of the crowd so many fans aren't wearing the team's colours.

Saw another idea that fans should bring red cards into the stadium and wave them through the game.

I agree a boycott is the most powerful and effective strategy.

I don't expect anything to happen though. It will blow over eventualy like always and Delaney will probably return to his original post.

The problem is that you've got a tiny few disgruntled people on niche forums like this and in LOI circles, but the vast majority of people going to the Aviva are only interested in getting a snap of the kids in their new Ireland kits for Facebook and probably don't even know who anyone in the FAI is. Bad results is the only thing that will keep the daytrippers away and make a statement with a half empty ground.
