I’m so shocked and sad to wake up to this news today. It’s unbelievable to think of all those poor people savagely killed. I can’t even begin to imagine the agony and hurt those men women and children went through and what their friends and families are going through. It’s like a spiderweb of hurt and it has reached out and touched us all worldwide. It’s just absolutely evil.

That's an interesting twist, from that article.

Second shooting at mosque in Linwood

A second shooting happened at a mosque in the Linwood area of the city.

One Friday prayer goer returned fire with a rifle or shotgun.

Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots around 1.45pm.

A well known Muslim local chased the shooters and fired two shots at them as they sped off.

He was heard telling police officers he was firing in "self defence".

Note, for the record, Kiwi firearms laws are quite different from much of the world. They work off "Track the man, not the weapon". If a person is good to go, they can own pretty much what's on the permit, which can, in theory, include full-on machineguns. Firearms are generally not registered, only owners. That said, I have no idea what their position is on Aussies with permits.

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good Muslim with a gun, eh?

If only more worshippers at the mosque had whipped out their Glocks/Uzis/Ak47s from under their robes, the death toll would have been a lot lower.

Someone should make that point on Hannity/Judge Jeannine/Infowars or some other kindred-spirit echo chamber. It would go down well, I'm sure:rolleyes:

May of all the victims rest in peace, thoughts go out to their families and friends. Its sad to see on twitter that some on the extreme left are already using this tragedy as a pretext to call for censorship of those who hold right wing political views. The guy is solely responsible for his own actions and no one else is responsible for him.

There is a fair bit of biting satire in the manifesto, he also makes it a commentary on society's responses to these events. The video games thing or the Navy Seals memes are jabs in the eye at what is commonly said in the world, not serious commentary.

Yes it is not mixed up in the slightest.

What alternatives provide encrypted group chat facilities?

Cowardly murder of defenseless Men, Women and Children.

I have negative views of Islamic culture when it comes to the Western world however I will never support or condone acts like this.

    RIP to the innocent victims.

Doesn't really matter if you condone it. Rhetoric that emboldens people like the NZ terrorists shares responsibility.

He views himself as a warrior!
I'd say if he found himself in a real gunfight, where people were shooting back, he'd poop himself.
    Filthy disgusting coward.

It seems at this point that that part of the report was not correct. The shooter left one firearm at the scene, for some reason he just dropped it when he got into his car. My supposition is that it was picked up by one of the muslims, who was found with it when the police showed up, leading to the fourth arrest, now released. [Edit. correction, two. I was reminded below by the first one he dropped upon entering]

However, if it were correct, you can't ignore it just because you don't like it. I watched the video, one can't make an informed commentary without it. Cowering did not work. Running did not work, he repeatedly went out and shot runners on the street before going back in to shoot those who didn't run. He even got in his car and chased some down. The guy who attempted to tackle him did not make it, and was given a coup de grace on the ground. Contrary to the above reports, the video showed no successful tackling of the shooter before he left, he left in his own time. Calling the police did not work. The one defensive strategy which does not seem to have been tried was throwing things at him.

So you may scoff at the idea, but shooting shooters has got to be a better solution than any of the above, because the above is shown, repeatedly, in many locations, not to work.

And this was a shooter who, contrary to prior commentary, was barely competent with his weapon. He repeatedly drops magazines or has them fall out. There was at least one jam, presumably caused by his 'tacticool' side-by-side magazine holder, unexpended cartridge flying out from the incorrectly seated magazine.

Don't think he was being tackled!? also he wasn't dropping magazines in error,he was discarding them to reload.
I think the guy who seems to be tackling him was just trying to get as close as he could to the side of the gun and slip around the shooter. The gun found at the scene was his entry gun, he just drops it at the door as he enters and immediately starts using the machine rifle!

He did drop them in error, he's quoted as saying so in the aftermath, read the video transcript. They all fell on the ground initially and each time he had to reload he went back to where he dropped them.

I won't be watching it, why does anyone need to see such an act. He streamed it for people to see, well I for one won't be given that psycho what he wants.

    Warrior my arse.
He'd piss himself if ever he got involved in a real gunfight, where the other party could shoot back.
He's nothing more than filthy, disgusting scum.

I just hope there's no revenge attacks.
Hopefully we won't hear of another building of worshipers getting it.

Yea I'm afraid I will scoff at that nonsense forever more. If everyone has guns the level of false negative killings will be through the roof, person sneezes loudly, gets shot. That's not to mention the absurdity and lack of hope, it's like saying our best bet is for a few people to die and then someone else take out the shooter. It's mad that there are people who still propagate this bull****, especially those who masquerade as sensible.

I read this story off RTÉ Aertel today. I feel disgusted by what this coward did to those innocent Muslims & their families today. There is no justification whatsoever for these types of planned attacks to happen anywhere especially in a peaceful country like NZ. This guy, whatever his name is, has taken part in a sickening act of violence just to make other people feel an endless pit of misery which would last for the rest of their lives. He is also a big fool to carry out this type of stuff on innocent people going about their daily business. I don't know how he would feel in his head if other people were shooting back at him in retaliation. He would probably dead by now if that happened to him. I will never watch one second of that video either because seeing that level of violence from him will **** up my head.

RIP to all of the victims. They should not have their lives lost today because of what this vile scumbag did to them. :(

I didn't notice him volunteering to fight ISIS or any other Islamist group, that's for sure, instead he goes after peaceful and unarmed civilian muslims.

I know there is no death penalty in New Zealand but seeing as he may spend the rest of his life in jail, I assume he will be segregated from the other prisoners for his own good(Not that he deserves that phrase used about him) ?

i also noticed when confronted by armed cops, the creep's warrior status vanished like a rat down a drainpipe.
didn't seem so keen on a real gun battle did he?

It was the second mosque where he was tackled not the first.

One eye witness said his friend tackled him and took his gun and gave chase but he didn't know how to use it and he then ran and drove off in a car with other people driving.

This was in the one where 10 people died, his English isn't the best so who knows.

He has no issues with people of different race or religion. He spent some time in Islamic countries and liked it there.
What he did have an issue with was different cultures mixing in one country.
He wants new laws brought in and rights taken away to goad people into rising up and copying what he did.

I am in no way defending what he did but figured I would post that as you will not hear why he claims to have done what he did in traditional media sources( that's probably a good thing!)

    Scumbag.
Didn't watch the video and don't want to but the methods of these shooters is getting more insane. Posting a livestream on Facebook of a slaughter is the next low.

Also, he was on 8chan. The usual "the absolute madman" posts from edgelords over there.

It was 8chan, his posts there are online to view.
He posted there to announce the attack just before it started.
