Would you use a consent app?

So there was a story earlier today about someone wanting to develop a 'consent app' at UCD.. mass email.. outrage.. yadda yadda yadda. Anyway would you use one? You make some digital signature or something indicating you are up for it, and then get down to business.

I can see a hell of a lot of problems with it anyway, who owns the data? The privacy implications! What if you're drunk? Consent can be withdrawn at any time. What if you agree and the hot blonde who started chatting to you back at the bar calls in Bubba?

No. What's the point? You can give initial consent but then they become violent and rape you. Or force you to sign consent in the first place. Cannot be resolved with an app, it's just a silly idea.

That's most likely the reality, rather than the idea. The idea seems to be to counter false rape claims

No, because one, people can change their mind at any point, and anytime you are getting down and dirty, your phone and opening an app is going to be the last thing on your mind.

Seriously though, rape is a serious issue but a consent app is not going to resolve anything.

The change of mind is the most serious implication here. The notion being that someone who would use such an app might believe that it gave them carte blanche once the consent is signed.

If you feel like this app is a good idea, then it means that you fundamentally do not understand what consent is.
