I haven't 21mins to listen to it, anyone care to say what the scam actually is?

I think the scam is say a driver has a taxi license ,
he allows other people to drive his car,
they earn money, they pay no tax ,
A driver has to get his meter checked once a year ,or it can be checked
by officials who regulate the taxi industry .
So if i have a tax return for driver x ,i can say theres a scam going on
if say his meter says he,s driving the car 15 hours every day ,
And he,s only earning 20k according to his tax return.
Most drivers work 8-10 hours a day .
All drivers have to bring the car in once a year to be inspected for road worthiness .The meters are sealed like the meter in a truck,
so it can be checked eg it holds the fares per mile, per minute, etc
So the passenger is not overcharged ,the rates are set and the meter is sealed .
So i may be tempting for some drivers to let someone else drive the car
and pay them to do so,
a person who is not a licensed taxi driver .

Some people are missing the elephant in the room here. A scam is the least of the worry here

There was a major GNIB operation in Dublin on the night of the Ed Sheeran concert, with a quarter of all Taxi drivers pulled on the night found to have serious irregularities in their immigration status. Garda Press Office have to liaise with the media, as you're simply not going to be able to keep that quiet.

We were told passenger safety was one of the primary reasons to deny Uber a licence to operate in ROI, but the PSV application process has long been known to be gamed by immigrant drivers. The reticence to address the issues up until recently due to ethnic / racial sensitivities has echoes of the blanket derogation of duty that transpired in Rotherham and I hope both the Gardai and Tusla tackle crime and abuse without fear of approbrium from the likes of the Irish Times or Immigrant Council of Ireland.

Uber were denied. Does anyone know if MyTaxi are genuine. I think they used to be Hailo but I could be wrong

I heard of someone who works in a large Dublin Hospital who gave his passport to someone in his home country (far far away) who he didn’t know, so they could use it to use to Come into the country. I’d say this must be rampant and without finger prints, eye scans etc it must be easy enough, he obviously got a bit of cash for doing it.

It was found out when they decided to do a spot check on visas etc and he couldn’t produce it

What are you let being done to you Ireland, you must be stoopid stoopid stoolid, as the saying goes.

    This is not new.

Check points where they take these people out of circulation along with the rickshaws once and for all is the only response required.
