ridiculous to have a Black Bond IMO

then there will need to be a Hispanic Bond, Asian Bond, Female Bond.

Bond is White. what's the big deal?

this isn't an episode of Barney the Dinosaur

I might be wrong here, but wasn't it confirmed that James Bond 007 is just a code-name?

The name is given to a variety of agents over the course of decades. I seem to remember reading about that bloody years ago, possibly before Daniel Craig was cast.

    Should be Tom Hardy.

The next Bond should be an elderly Jewish man from the Bronx.

It was suggested it could be. So bond can be re-invented like dr.who. but that's merely lip service. 007 is the designated code. James bond was his name.

For me, James Bond has to be tall - this looks better in a suit. And of course, the Bond girls are never tiny either.

Different for wrestling/fighter films, they can get away with being shorter in height and bigger in build.

I dunno, Tom Cruise has starred alongside some tall ladies and manages to make it look....well, like he's not a micro man. And he mainly does action films ala Bond these days.

    John Connors anyone?

Nah he's busy with the Terminator franchise.

He doesn't suit Bond, but Bond really should be done away with, it's a cold war relic.
Should have stopped with the excellent Casino Royale - they have been awful films since then.

Jamie Dornan has the height, youth and cold dead eyes for it actually

Basically, now they've finished with most of the Flemming books they want to get rid of the James Bond (Scottish) character.
They want to kill him of so that they can say somebody new got the 007 job in MI6 so they can give more politically correct people the role instead of toxic men.

They might get Cillian in there but long term they want black people and women in the role.

My money would be on Richard Madden... Bodyguard was almost an audition for him.

Craig has been a fantastic bond, big shoes to fill.

Only drawback is I dont think he is great at accents...unless a norn iron bond would work..."the name is Bond so it is"

I wouldn't really worry about age. It's the type of role which suits late 30s, 40s guys.

Can't have some fresh faced punk playing Bond.

Nonsense. Bond is box office gold and usually great fun. Skyfall and Casino Royale have been excellent additions to the franchise and the other two by Craig were average enough I feel.

I havent seen any indication of that.....who are "they"?
If you are thinking of Barbara Broccoli... she specifically said there wont be a female bond.
Toxic men? What are you on about? Are all men toxic?

“Bond is male,” she said. “He’s a male character. He was written as a male and I think he’ll probably stay as a male."

Oh woe is me Hollywood is clearly crying out for decent parts for white male leads.....

if they go a new direction with the character it could work. thought they were going for a woman or a black guy next time?

    "The names Bond. Jamal Bond."

Exactly, I have no problem with a film with a woman as a secret agent - but don't call it James Bond .... even Jane Bond, go in some new direction like the JAson Bourne films..

This is the problem when they try and be PC and "Progressive" with films, they try and remake older films with more "progressive" roles... this is why the new Ghostbusters film failed spectacularly.
IF you want a film with strong female characters, how about a new original film - like 3 Billboards maybe ?? one of the best films made in the last decade.

But no, apparently I'm a sexist misogynist cos I thought GB was utter tripe.
    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Madden is too chappish looking.

It failed because it wasn't a good movie. Script was bad. Pacing was off. Was predictable. Nothing to do with the gender of the cast.

Do you not think that is levelled at you because you focus on it being 'tripe' because of the gender of the actors, and not some of the above?

If there was a female bond it wouldn't bother me as long as the factors other than gender, which I mentioned above, were in order.

If you want a metrosexual bond go for Cillian Murphy.
If you want a Bond with the physicality of Craig and the charisma of Connery go for Idras Elba

ghostbusters remake was poor no doubt, the budget was also pretty huge.
I do think the online pasting it got from people before it was even released and people had seen it was hugely unfair though and definitely didnt help the box office.
I would think this new ghostbusters film in development will not get the same treatment.

Oh and Murphy should not be let in the same room as a vodka martini

Harry Styles came to mind immediately. That would be the end of the franchise.....for 5 years until they reboot it.

    Good God I hope not.

That populist schick was deployed with Ghostbusters 2016 and that was a total laughable disaster.

    The names Bond

    Jamie Bond

Just throwing it out there, but could Jon Hamm play James Bond? I know he's American but English actors play American characters all the time so why not the reverse.

Probably that bit too old as well, realistically. Five or ten years ago he'd have been great to cast but were he cast now he'd be pushing sixty by the time he wrapped up four films.

Also, do ye know what was a terrible film that should never have been made, just shat all over the cultural legacy of Ghostbusters in the name of cashing in and changing things that were in no need of changing?

Ghostbusters II. Nobody gets themselves in a righteous manly fcuk-the-PC-police frothing rage over it though, wonder why. Gee it's like people's problem with women being in a film rather than bad films.
