    Another planet perhaps.

Hands up who has any idea what's in their pension. I encourage everyone foolish enough to have one to go and examine it closely. What 99% of people will find is

    a) you're being screwed on fees by the provider
    b) there might be a company appointed "financial advisor" taking a bit of your pie for absolutely nothing
    c) that your investments are in companies making weapons of war, energy companies destroying the planet, big tobacco and big pharma etc etc

Congrats! Your helping to destroy the planet! And not only that, you're being ripped off along the way :D

This madness has got to stop. How can someone contribute to this is amazing to me. We all need to make a stand and stop greasing the wheels of this destruction.

So no pension is your suggestion?

My first suggestion is that destroying the planet isn't a good thing. If you're on board with that, cool then we can talk alternatives.

The alternative would be to not contribute and just stick what you can save in the bank. Banks would never do anything wrong.

You’re one of those woke gobsheites who expect to be provided with more than a mere pittance by the state in your old age, aren’t you?

I'm sure there's a few quid going from Paddy's payslip into SpaceX and the other ****-athon efforts of billionaires to escape this planet and live in peace a million miles from poor people.

    Whats the alternative?

Well you haven't bothered in your first effort at soapboxing so let's hear some.

That's one alternative. Not one I'd put forward mind you, but your framing of this as the only option shows how brainwashed the populace is.

1 - Let's not have a system where everyone funds the destruction of the planet, the raping of the third world and the proliferation of war.

2 - Now we're at a good stage. Let's get together and discuss. I propose a radical overhaul of the global economy to one for people rather than for the current madness. No reason the government in this system couldn't be the one that provides for people from cradle to grave.

That's a rather long winded way of saying you have no suggestions.

Unless you’re good craic like Srameen, you should have to work until you keel over. Pensions should be exclusively for people who aren’t moany old windbags waiting to fill a box.

    Government based solution?

A return to the family being the main source of support for the eldery, in conjunction with the gov? Like Asian countries continue to do.

I’m sure there are a number of ethical funds out there, just not sure the returns are very good.

It's a very big assumption that people are destroying the planet. Humans are having an impact but the Earth will still be here long after any trace of humans ever existing has disappeared.

The madness is overpopulation but no one is willing to pay the price to solve it.

I broadly agree and my phrasing might be off. We're funding the killing of people and cultures and ultimately all humanity.

Plenty of people are shoving money into weapons companies for them to do their bit.

I agree. I believe the correct sentence is "people are harming the planet to an extent that will make our life here impossible. After that Earth will recover".

Depends. Do you think for instance that Ryanair, Aer Lingus, BA etc are ethical? By karting yobbos on two week pisups at dirt cheap prices they're contributing massively to climate change.

    Very true.

The planet was here long before us and has survived and will continue to survive long after. We're a little insignificant blip in it's 5bn year history, all we're doing is destroying ourselves, not Earth.

I'm alright with it as long as the inevitable collapse of the planet happens after I'm rubber ducked. If not, I'm with you on it.

Good thing I don't have one then, am going to have to keep working (self employed) till I die. Never have made enough money to start one and it's too late now. Ahh well. Doesn't bother me, I will get by on state pension. Which before anyone tells me is bleeding ye dry, feck off, I pay taxes and it's all just digital zeros anyway. Made up money.

Ok so rule out airlines. Gotcha.

How about pharmaceutical companies helping us to live better and longer?

Good point, I honestly haven’t looked into it.

You’d think there could be money made investing in green energy or electric transport.

There are ethical ETFs you can invest in instead.
