Tomorrow's Torygraph reporting that at least 4 veterans are likely to be charged with murder within the next fortnight.

This is not aimed at you OP but the term 'veteran' grates on me at the best of times, especially in this context.

Ex-servicemen is an improvement, but why not just say what they are? Former soldiers.

If the guns ,of elite troops, were turned in such a violent way against the citizens of London , or the citizens of Glasgow,or Liverpool , or Birmingham, or Cardiff ,or any other urban centre in the U.K. ... against folks (kids in a lot of cases) on a civil rights march...

Well, would the good folks of those cities expect an account to be given from their authorities?

Or would they support, Instead, a leading headline... which basically suggests that "our veterans are being picked on"..... for firing on unarmed protesters (kids)?

How many were shot in the back?

I could never understand why the soldiers opened up fire on innocent people without provacation. That would be unlike the ultra regimented British Army.

I saw a clip of a Bloody Sunday march in Londonderry recently. Full of berets and provo looking bands. Is there different factions at play here within republican circles?

I didn’t think the victims families wanted to be associated with this but it obviously I was wrong.

Families are split. There is no majority on either side as actual families have split on it. Some march some don't. Republican bands march as IRSP, Saoradh and Eirigi have aligned RFBs who will march it.

The families asked that 2011 was last march but tjen support the march again.

I don’t start a hissy fit when others refer to it as derry or doire or anything else. I wld like the same courtesy. It’s really a non issue. Oh it's working perfectly. You will be answering to Dublin within 10 years. Your as equal as I am, obviously more so of a mongrel but we accept everyone.

I have no issue with what you call it, attention seeker's will always want attention.

I was pointing out the irony in getting upset about being called out on the attention seeking.

Perhaps this thread might wonder off now on s tangent as to how the city should be called, rather than discussing the murders of unarmed civilians, who had the cheek and audacity to march for their civil rights, maybe that will be mission accomplished for you?

I was not the one or ones who questioned the name of the city. I find it strange that others start whinging about my reference though. It’s not as if I will change my mind as to what I refer to a place very close geographically to me. It shouldn’t go off in a tangent. I accept others calling it derry and don’t whinge about it. I just expect the same for me.
