GFW covered it well. The best point I thought was on Azpilicueta. He was captain and he said "I didn't see it". That's almost worse imho.

Seemingly the Spanish players at Chelsea are very much a clique, but of course Azpilicueta should be putting his duty as captain above that.

That Fermanagh argument today was ridiculous. Up "at the expense of" Armagh, Tipperary, etc. Armagh and Tipperary not being good enough is the sole reason for them not going up.

His point was who would you rather watch Fermanagh or Donegal, Tipp, Armagh, Paint drying etc etc

Yeah, it's still listenable but you'd miss Ken for sure. They know it too, they've been very vague about how long he's going to be away.

I think this is his 3rd week away isn't it?

I presumed he would be away for 2 weeks but on Monday they said it would be next week until he's back. Think that is 3 weeks altogether. He was definitely already gone for the Declan Rice episode and that was February 13.

The Declan Rice and Kepa stories would have been right in Ken's wheelhouse. I think he was on holidays for MON/Keano leaving as well last year. Prime Ken fodder.

I don't care if Ken goes on holidays, the more the better. As long as we hear about his adventures! I've said it before but I would love a travel report pod from Ken. He summaries history, politics, culture and humour so well with his tales from abroad.

The point should be scoring more than the opposition.

If your being pedantic then yes that is the point of the game of Gaelic Football

It's am awful attitude that's infesting GAA (and all sports these days). There's no "at the expense of" Tipperary or Armagh. It's their own fault for not winning games and nobody elses fault for winning more games than them. Want to go up? Be better.

Armagh should go out and get an actual manager for a start.

All valid points but what Murph was alluding to in my opinion was who would you rather see get promoted from a spectators point of view ?

Eoin is presenting El Classico on Eir Sport 2/Premier Sports this evening

Thought Eoin did well there. Just throwing questions to Moyes and Balague and letting them run with it.

The chairs look pretty uncomfortable though.

Anybody know he got on? Who was on the panel with him?

EDIT: Missed the above post. Reckon we'll be seeing more of him on the airwaves?

Seen one clip and he looked like he was getting in ok. Does the Spanish lad always have that smug grin when Moyes is talking, or are they not always on it?

I must say it was extremely satisfying having Ken's monologue, aka 'Report on Sport', back.

I would have always said that at times I could take or leave the Report on Sport.

But yesterday was indeed a pleasure.

I would like to hear more about Eoin and David Moyes' night on the lash/two pints

Listening to his rising incredulity over the use of VAR in the Athletico - Juve match was like meeting an old friend again.

Ken's body board story was amazing. He needs to do a travel series.

Maybe a Bear Grylls type show ? Dump Ken in middle of the desert, naked, armed with only half a fork

He'll be in great form today after last night's result!

Nice one from murph: "Did you ask him why he didn't take off the shackles?"

Another gem from Ken - West Brom “are like a pensioner getting ripped off at the fish market on holidays”

Great stuff from Ken earlier today. His systematic dissection of the entire mindset of the Norwegian nation based on a sample size of one was truly wonderful.

From the times I said it was still worth it even if I didn't listen to all of them, it could be time to re-think now as I've been looking at the titles and swiping the episode as played for about three weeks now.
It's not that they're doing bad work but it's really getting to the stage where they're just not talking about anything I'm interested in.

The soccer pod yesterday was dreadful.

I know what you mean. I like rugby, but there's not enough actual matches for the amount of coverage they give. If it's club rubgy we'll get an entire podcast on 2 games. 6 nations and we'll get 1 pod on the Ireland game review, one that week on the build up. It's a bit too much coverage for so little sport.
Soccer is the top 6 and maybe barca and real. I mean, GFW do all the premier league, championship, lower leagues and the big leagues across Europe in the same time SC do about 3 matches involving the big teams!
I'm not interested in womens sport or gaa, but I appreciate why they cover them, but I just wish they'd expand a bit more on other football and rugby.

I'm near the opposite. It's all premier league, champions League, and 6 nations and I've no interest in any of them. They do a little 5 minutes the odd time on GAA but I'd be skipping trying to find it, and their domestic soccer stuff is besically a running joke by them at this stage.

Even today when it's something different it's someone on talking about a tennis player so it was another straight skip. I probably just don't have a wide enough sporting range for a generic sports podcast any more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,139 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

It's hard to cater for everyone. TBH, if they just covered a bigger variety of soccer in the same timeframe instead of focusing on about 6 teams I'd be happy.
I'm not a tennis fan, but yesterdays one on the Agassi book was good.

The soccer pod yesterday was dreadful.

Ken was especially rambling on Monday. As much as we enjoy Ken I think it's generally a bad idea to just let him talk and talk and talk and that's what Monday felt like.
