You Truely are your own man, fair play! Your a great character I’d say

Just an amusing anecdote ,an I won't pull this thread off track after this.
I'm going to Church a lot more since I retired (for the music) so a neighbour asked me was I like expectant mothers going to church for the first time in years to secure a place in the local national school.......was I now going to Church in a frantic rush to secure brownie points for a place in the hereafter.
I told him whatever about the here after I'd be hoping for a place in the graveyard anyway

Wrangler, if your ever trading again, have a look at the hustler. They’ve a lower center of gravity then the husky. I’m only saying that because I bought a new husky last year, the r213. Good lawnmower, better then the tractor lawnmower type imo, but in comparison to the hustler It feels not as strong. I’m thinking the deck is will need replacing every 10-15 yrs. way more steel in the hustler, never have to replace the deck, but was out of my budget at the time.

A deck may not be as expensive as you tnink....Got a new 53 inch deck complete with blades, pulleys, belts etc for a 20 y/o John Deere last year for €320. A new blade is around €50, so I was happy with that

Our deck is still perfect, I can see me doing the same as you though, take a long time to wear out the rest of the machine

Ah fair enough. As I said, have used both machines and the husky deck seems like something that will wear out, but the hustler is at least double the thickness in steel and more, it’s just a really tough lifetime machine, will never wear out, but nothing wrong with either machine really.

How much. I'd say the one with the powersteering and grass box is some price.
Wouldn't mind but the lawn with the big hill is a charity job, a graveyard of about an acre, I don't get involved in anything else in the parish so that is enough for the community, Being born C of I It's a small community.
I'm also an Athiest but I love church music

Quad flail mower. Won't cut any clumps of rushes clean. Need to drive 1/2 mph on basically everything else. Only use is to smash up licked/dead rushes. Not sure of the make.

Major Cyclone, bought one a couple of years ago, cannot fault it. Can work great over scrub type ground and can go faster over grassland for general topping too. Great machine.

How are you getting on with these? I bought some back around the same time and I cant get over how white they went. They dont even smell like creosote and they were more of an orange colour than dark brown when we got them. I've more from other suppliers which still ooze creosote out in the summer and stay black/brown year round. I remember these were suspiciously cheap at the time compared to everyone else and I'm beginning to wonder are they creosote at all??

Still the same. They go bleached looking with weathering. But they are a strong stake.

Interesting thread - I hadn’t seen it before.

A few have mentioned particular stock as a poor investment and I’d be in that boat too. I bought 20 FR heifer calves in 2023 and I reckon there’ll be a max of 10 of them left here next year.

Going off-thread, the best investment I made was buying entitlements for naked land in 2019.

Bought a calf trolley you pull around yourself. Dunno why I didn't put a pound along with it and buy a basket for the front loader. I just use it for hanging blue calf feeders off now.

Sheep turnover create. Bought just before we got rid of the sheep. Sitting in corner of shed currently.

Don't know if it was ever used. No wheels on it so just too awkward to get out to use.

Stick it up on DoneDeal….. You'd probably get your money back, and maybe a profit, with the way the price of everything has gone in the last few years..

    Another investment I’m happy with - a hydraulic top-link.

    (Was using it just now)

Makes it much easier to put on and take off any implement.

Battery electric fencers. Although first one I ever bought was very good, lasted years. Seem to have gone through a good few in last number of years

2nd hand Huster bale unroller, ms660 chainsaw, a chainsaw log holder, 8 x 4 builders trailer and a Tusk log splitter were all good buys. The bale unroller especially. A second hand mf4260 was a bad buy. Fixing up an 8150 Valtra that was really should have been sent to the breakers yard but I like it still, I'm about 22k into it now between buying it and money spent on repairs but its starting to earn its keep. A refurbished starter on our 4 cylinder mf35 was well worth the money, spins way faster now and starts from cold without any heating now. Great job.
