I'd be a bit nervous about this one as well. It'll be a different type of game to last weekend. Cavan will be much more defensive than Tyrone and if this wind keeps up, it could end up like the Roscommon game.

The team named wouldn't fill you with huge confidence either. Ruane and Colm Moran are completely untested at this level. A couple others are lucky to be getting another chance. Don't know too much about the Cavan team but our full back line could be skinned for pace if Caff and Coen start there.

I really hope there are 2-3 dummy team selections there.

Vaughan for Ruane, Ruane can be eased in and a bit daft putting him in for his first start after playing Sigerson a few days previous.

    Reape for Regan, because Regan.

    Harrison for Caff, because Caff.

Hate being harsh on players but I'm not sure what's being achieved by persisting with Regan & Caff. We've built up momentum, it would be great to keep it going and there's very little point given debuts to lads in a weakened team... see how they get on with quality around them or you'll never really know.

Regan has had a go. I think Caff deserves a run out

Caff got some horrible abuse on Facebook when the team was announced. From so called Mayo fans as well, it's completely uncalled for.

Having said that, I would have preferred Drake or Crowe to get a chance there instead. Horan said that Harrison was cramping up during training on Tuesday which is probably why he's out.

Donie V played plenty of minutes maybe no harm mixing it up there

I don't think Regan is up to this level tbh

    Agreed that's simply not on.

Absolutely spilling rain here.Dire playing conditions for the players.

If one wasn't already expecting a low scoring affair that'd be my expectation unless we can an early run on them.

A real test for our lads against a traditionally defensive team.

Hopefully it'll stop raining and the wind will stay off.

A night to get in early and head for back of the arctic stand.

Deffered at 9 p.m. on Eir Sport 1 as far as I am aware - there seems to be a Scottish Cup game live on Eir Sport 2 while the Mayo game is going on.

No the tv schedule shows that the coverage for the Mayo game starts at 18.50.

Harrison apparently not on the 26 tonight.
David Drake,Eoin O'Donoghue,Donal Vaughan the other defensive options to bring in

The Cavan Mayo match is on Eir Sport 2, but not Eir Sport 2 HD. On my box it's on channel 871. Very odd stuff, I think some people may miss out on the game due to not knowing this.
Meanwhile, the game between Mayo and Cavan at Elverys MacHale Park will also be live on eir sport.

Sky customers will only be able to watch the match on eir sport 2 SD, which is available on channel 422 or 871, depending on your Sky box.

Decent crowd in already,if weather holds out we should have a more comfortable evening than for the Roscommon game.

Pitch looks in pretty good nick.

I have to admit perhaps a bit of bias, I know young Galligan (engaged to a relation), but that goal looked like a charge on the keeper.

Mayo will be delighted with the officiating tonight.

    Caff MOTM
    Might shut a few up
He is fine as a squad option
Some games/forwards will suit him some won’t

Regan is lighter than a feather. Wouldn't be able to charge a wet paper bag.

Moran found the going very tough, McDonagh wasn't in the game as much this week but still did some amount of work.

Did he do the shoulder again?

I don't know. Although I enjoyed Caffs performance as Cavan obviously targeted him and he stood strong...the big man was outstanding. AOS MOTM for me.

Well done Mayo and James Horan. Mighty positive start to the year :)

Looked more like a body charge than a shoulder.

Who was this new young lad at FB? 😂

He sure looked like a lad I wrote off a couple of seasons ago. Imperious!

Think he means why did Regan go off injured.

Looked like Regan did the shoulder again alright which is unfortunate.
