Well at least we won while playing poorly

? Three points for the try, two for the conversion. Five in total.

And a bonus point if you get the conversion in off the post

Nervy and a bit hesitant, but good to get a win under the belt. You can see the loss of confidence.

absolutely criminal to not get the bonus point there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,427 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I'm bloody delighted to be honest. Scotland's recent home record has been excellent. After last week's performance I was very worried about today. But we saw a gritty forwards display where everyone played their part in the win. Strangled Scotland in the second half. Don't care about not getting the try bonus. The win was essential to get our tournament back on track.

Half backs and centres were abysmal and a rethink is desperately needed. Losing Sexton and Ringrose was a blow, but that shouldn't be used as an excuse for a frankly abysmal attacking performance.

We won away in Murrayfield but still feel a bit empty.. Would kill for this in the 1990s..

The lack of a bonus point will probably end out chances of taking the overall championship but happy with the win nonetheless

A win is a win, but both teams will be hugely disappointed with that.

I think Ireland will be relieved more than disappointed.... There was extreme pressure on them coming into this

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

    Pack was much improved.

    Backrow was excellent.

We have the best 9 in the world but he is playing awful and should not start in Rome.

Henshaw and Ringrose is our best centre pairing.

Handsome Rob was very good. The difference in out wide out defence was noticeable

Dillane really made a big impact. He could start in 2 weeks too.

    Well thank goodness for that.

Pity about the bonus point and pity about Sexton.

Our centres weren't great IMO. Back three so much better.

Murray and Sexton not up for it. Joey did well in the second half.

Back row worked well. Second row too - Roux had a good day, better than I would have expected. Front row solid as always. Kilcoyne made great impact.

A very nervous performance, I would have taken any win beforehand.

Ah well. Gutted we didn't get the 4th try for the BP. Happy though for the win.

Well the good news is that the players seem as underwhelmed as the rest of us.

But we've gone to a tough place and won. Not many teams have won at Murrayfield recently.

Remember no Toner, Henderson, Beirne, Stander,
Leavy, Sexton for 60 mins, Ringrose or Henshaw.

Good win in Murrayfield. Not an easy place to go. Not many standout players today. Stockdale class first half, SOB was class and Best decent after a tired looking performance last week. Murray's form is worrisome, and Aki has had his worst two games in an Ireland jersey. Farrell didn't go as well as I would have liked after a good start to the game and a mixed bag for Carbery. Dillane was a really good impact sub as well.

Really think the lack of a BP reduces any chance of winning the Championship that there might have been.

Look and the Irish players body language, you'd think they lost.

    Result 10/10
    Performance 7/10

Furlong.. SOB...POM...Earls and Kearney were the stand outs for me

Do we need to talk about Aki? Stood out for the wrong reasons today for me

Hardly 10/10 without the bp. The first half performance was dire.

Not having the bonus probably means we can't win the championship now bar a major **** up from England.

Or did they change that ? I know there was talk a while back about making it 4 points for the try, but not sure the change went ahead.

They tired it in the league along with the hand pass rule, but didn’t carry it forward to the championship.

Are you talking about old rugby rules there? It's 5 points for a try. 2 points for a conversion.

Sorry, but what are you on about about? Sexton was hit late and often. He picked up an injury.. Possibly a concussion.

Ireland were better against England. A disimprovement today, but much of that a consequence of the level of personnel on the pitch. Todays performance would have been punished by England with a 50 pointer. The positive was that Scotland were worse and made even more stupid errors, we got the bounce of a ball for rather than against, and Poite was polite to us.
So a step backwards from last week. Dont let the win hide anything.

Since we got bate there last time...a win is 10/10

Plus the way some are posting her before halftime we should have been beaten

He was poor. Partly to what was going on between him and the pack. But he was also poor in other areas.

Poor stuff from Ireland, look like an Eddie O Sullivan team.
Murray needs to go and talk to a sports psychology guy and get his confidence back.
The loss of the first choice players shows us we are not as strong for World Cup as previously thought unless. Team selection for Japan will be key.
J Carbery not anywhere near where he needs to be to be a substitute for Sexto despite what the mono tone Quinlan says.
Having said that this is Six Nations and it’s always going to be thought, credit to the lads.
    Come on Ireland

Bitter and uncalled for especially after the game on the tv interview

Don't think I've ever seen a player call out a ref like that after a game. Pointed back to the SA game too. Mad

Did he complain about the Murray kick that Scotland knocked into touch but was given as straight in and lineout to Scotland?

If anyone ever doubts or suggests Kearney should be replaced ever again it should be an Insta perm ban. Again today he stuffed it up the ar*e of all those who’ve doubted him.

Don’t often mind who wins in international rugby when England aren’t involved, but there’s a distinct lack of class among the Scottish set up. Their antics after beating England last year were very ordinary. Always happy to see them beaten!

I don't like this talk about a championship lost after not getting a bonus. Winning away in the 6 Nations is extremely hard and Scotland's home record has been superb. This is an excellent away win.
