    Police.

Surely if there is a public order issue at an airport, then the police would want to get involved?

Yes, the police of course would. My point was more about security guards. They are not bouncers and are not there to stop gypsy fights.

The cops should certainly have arrived quicker and beat the snot out of the whole group involved.

    Ne’er a word

Well then Connors did tell all “settled”people in 2018 to explain the Hutch - Kinahan feud. Not being from central Dublin I’m not sure what I did wrong but apologies all

Yeah but John was hiding from social welfare because there was a jobspath course on next month

I do wonder if he might have been making a not-so-subtle point there.

There are definitely armed security at Belfast International.
I see them everytime I'm at the airport.

I'm sure there are other unarmed security too.

You have to remember that every policeman in NI is armed. Its a heavily armed state.

Why does it matter if the PSNI are armed or not? Lets face it, its isn't Amercia, the police are not come to come in and start shooting people even if they are having a brawl in the middle of an airport.

You seem to have misunderstood my post. I wasn't congratulating anyone on behaving the way you're supposed to behave. I was suggesting that perhaps, contrary to the racist generalisations posted on here, maybe most Travellers don't behave like the people in that video. Odd how that suggestion really irks some people on here.

Travelers aren't a race of people.

Travelers aren't a race of people.

They're an ethnic minority, whether you like it or not.

Exactly, same race as the majority of the county but a different ethnic background.
It's fair to say there is some ethnic discrimination but it's not racism.

Regarding ethnicity is it only Irish travellers it mentions or is it English travellers as well/all nationalities?

What do you mean by traveller bashing? Because criticism of the negatives of traveller culture isn't unfair is it?

My guess would be that they are included too. Travellers in England are still ethnically Irish Travellers. It only counts when they are in Ireland though as I don't think the UK recognises Irish Travellers as an ethnic minority.

The thing is, if they finished secondary school and got jobs, within a few generations they would be indistinguishable from the rest of the Irish population.
So does giving them ethnic status mean we want them to do neither of those things?

I am not sure those Vans can fly?

    Toyota Fly-Aces
It's actually pathetic that we live in a society where you cant call them for the animals that they are. Old people there waiting for flights and these hard men flinging sh1t around without any regard for the members of the public. At what stage do people stand up and say enough, do they actually have to call around to your house on Christmas Day and sh1t on your dinner table?

I'd say between the stories of them out on holidays and this, they will probably leave the phone off the hook in Pavey Point until it blows over, like they usually do.

I'd say it's off the hook more often than it's on these days.

My advice is stop using slur words regarding travellers. Try and discuss it in more of a civil manner.

The UK recognised them as a distinct ethnic minority long before Ireland ever did.

There are Travellers with full-time jobs, degrees and PhDs, who still very much identify as Travellers, and have great pride in their history (and yes, their culture, boss) and aren't indistinguishable from the rest of the population.

They missed their flight to Tír na nÓg as a result of the fighting.

Cool. We can talk about their racism towards settled people so.

    Those men were very naughty.

There seems to be a lot of those type of naughty men and women in the media lately for being very bold indeed.

The mind boggles when people defend these type of naughty men and women.

No doubt this will be forgotten about until next weeks lawlessness from other types of these naughty men and women.

Settled people are a race ?

We're different ethnic groups now. That time a knacker punched me in the head can now be considered a hate crime.

About 1% have a degree and I only know of Siny Joyce that has a PHD. For the most part these people are the first to break the mold in their family by obtaining education and job. That is only one generation on, I'm talking about a few generations.
Fair play to them, this would have been very difficult as generally their parents don't want them mixing as once they stop the tradition of marrying their cousins and marry the general population their traditions will die out.

I just don't see a situation when they enter the work force and continue to only marry close relatives.

A forced sterilisation programme would get my vote.

    That's not remotely realistic.

It might however be worth considering offering incentives to travellers to have smaller families

    Another traveller thread..

Same people trying to defend them as usual

My view or opinion is they are a bunch of no good scumbags with zero respect for anyone outside their enclosed inbred circle.

Those who defend them just empower their constant deliberate lawless actions and they laugh at how they pull the wool over so many 'gougers' eyes

The sooner people wake up and call a ****in spade a spade the better society will be

There was something very unconvincing about the whole thing. I don't think a single blow landed and grown men looked like big eejits waving those lengths of bar around. There was a lot of shouting but not a lot else. They used wire shopping baskets to throw around - one of them got them from behind the edge of the duty free area - all that throwable stuff in duty free and they liberated a few wire baskets.

They reminded me of over boisterous young teens acting up to embarrass an ineffective teacher on a day trip - aware of just what they could do without actually causing damage. But these were supposed grown ups. Quite what the purpose was I have no idea, but they did a very good job of making themselves look like complete fools.

Them? That sounds a bit racist.

No, they'd monitor stuff like this from a distance. If it got really serious the police would jump in. If they went in there, all guns blazing, they could be accused of all sorts. Those lads are air side, so they can't escape. The police would be able to arrest time when things calm down.

I thought that female employee was very brave to come out and try to get them to stop the bedlam. It looked like she was out there alone for what I would consider too long a period for her own safety. Surely police/security should have moved in sooner if they were monitoring the situation??
